STUDENT VOICE
. . .ist Wunderbar!
by Michelle Grasmick
Collegian Staff Writer
One of the most effective ways to
discover a foreign nation is by
hands-on experience. There's no
better way to gain this experience
than by joining one of the on
campus foreign language clubs. A
prime example is the German Club.
The purpose of the German Club
is to familiarize Behrend students
(not just those enrolled in a Ger
man class) with Germany's culture,
citizens, and practices. Several
orientation trips will be taken this
year, including a trip to the Oc
tober Fest in Kitchener, Canada.
This trip gives students the oppor
tunity to experience a German-style
fest firsthand. The German club
will also be traveling to Switzerland
this Christmas break in order to do
some skiing and take in 'some of
that old-fashioned Swiss
hospitality.
The Behrend German Club is
fairly new, only one year old. Dr.
Steven deHart is the staff sponsor
of the club., as well as Behrends'
German language instructor. He's
taken a strong interest in the club
and constantly supplies new and
exciting ideas. New membership is
strongly encouraged, especially for
those who enjoy interacting with
interesting people, learning some
new customs, and having a lot of
fun. For further details, contact
Dr. Steven deHart at 898-6448.

Upon A Golden Steed
by Robert Eggleston
Collegian Staff Writer
Riding in the night
upon a golden steed,
we hold each other tightly
unaware of our great speed
Through forests of roses
and streams of wine
in my land of fantasy
where rainbows tell time
Riding in the night
upon a golden steed
we hold each other tightly
unaware of our great speed
Many miles have passed,
yet many more do come
before we're in your fantasy
on the threshold of the sun.
Riding in the night
upon a golden steed
we hold each other tightly
unaware of our great speed
Into the horizon;
it's fading do you see?
Now we're really flying
You'd better tighten your grip on me.
Flying in the night
upon a golden steed
we hold each other tightly
unaware of our great speed
My land has ended.
Now we're above your own.
Should I leave you in that meadow,
or may I go with you to your home?

It's the beginning of the school
year again, and the time when
students seem to have the most pro
blems. We asked some students
what the biggest problem is that
they have encountered at Penn
State Behrend this semester.
Results, although limited, were
quite positive. No major com
plaints were voiced.
Wendy Mariella, 3rd semester,
DUS—"Parking seems to be the
biggest problem that I have. When
I leave for class early and get here
five minutes before my class I
usually have to park illegally
because there are no spaces
available. Some of my friends have
gotten parking tickets because of
this. I think a solution would be to
build more parking spaces by ex-
