The October 19 robbery accounted for the loss of over $5OO in rash, $4O worth of E.M.T.A. bus Passes and more than $4O in postage stamps. "in the past, deposits were not made on the weekends," said Jamie Grimm, assistant dean of Student Affairs. The large amount of money kept at the R.U.B. Desk on weekends was to accomodate the high demand for change," Grimm said. "Many, measures have been taken to make the area less susceptible to robbery," she added. "Two people arc working at night and on the Weekends instead of the one previously scheduled." Also, additional deposits are being made, the door behind the desk is kept fully shut and locked at night and on weekends, and Police and Safe ty are keeping a closer watch on the desk. The installation of a change machine is also being looked into. This would allow the desk to keep only a minimal amount of money "on hand." The Commission also in itiated the Strategic Study Group on the Status of Women, currently underway. In addi tion to these, The Committee deter mined that the three most critical problems for women at Penn State are day care, sexual harassment, and safety on campus. Another goal of the Commission for Women is the establishment of a liason group on each Penn State campus. Behrend women will meet to elect representatives to its liason group later this semester. The group will be made up of four women, representing students, clerical/technical workers, staff and faculty. It will meet at least once per semester to discuss the specific concerns of Behrend Col lege women. All the groups will meet at University Park once per semester to present their findings to the Commission. Interested women can contact Josie Eyer at ext. 6213 to be notified of the time and place of the meeting.
