Collegian April 17, 1986 Sylvan Wind Quintet re-discovers masterworks Since 1976 the Sylvan Wind Quintet has been captivating au diences with its brilliant perfor mances and imaginative reper toire. Based in New York City, the ensemble is the only one of its kind to present an annual subscription series of music for wind quintet, which has been critically acclaimed for its in novative- programming concepts since it inception in 1978. The series is currently performed at Army encourages soldier's education PITTSBURGH—Many high schools and high school graduates who are college or technical as well as college students are faced with the same problem—taking out an educational loan and assuming a burdensome debt in the years to come. Their repertoire ranges from the standard classical quintet literature to unusual re discovered rarities and delightful transcriptions of familiar master works. Concerts of special `themes' spotlighting women composers, specific instruments by experts. Emphasis is on the "hands on" training.
