You Are Called! ... “I am here to proclaim the presence of Jesus in your Lives and the power of His Love in your hearts. ” ... “Young people, you are invited by Christ to a con version of heart. You are called to play a special part in shaping and building a better world. ” ... “You need the right scale of values, a clear vision of the world, of human life, of love. ” Should we talk about YOU? Call: Fr. Larry Speice Vocation Director Diocese of Erie “The combination of the two sports itself is strange. For me, it was quite a transition from foot ball to volleyball.” However, the transition was smooth as he main tained his volleyball jumping ability despite being a 265 pound offensive tackle in football. During his athletic endeavors at Delaware, Light received national recognition in football and volleyball. He was a member of Delaware’s teams that claimed four Lambert Cup Trophies and two NCAA Division II football championships. Light, who was captain of Delaware’s volleyball team, was selected by opposing coaches to the All-Eastern United States Team twice. In 1975 he was one of two All-East picks invited to join the United States men’s team to train for the Olympics. However, he continued his education at Millersville State University, earning his master’s degree in biology. Light said he chose to continue his education instead of joining the Olympic team because he would much rather have a Ph.D. in Biology than be a “washed up volleyball player.” At Behrend, Light is coach of Pope John Paul II Youth Rally, St. John’s, Newfoundland Some are called through PRIESTHOOD and SISTERHOOD sports the men’s club volleyball team which competes against other col lege club teams.
