September 26,1985 Page Four the campus club report by Heather Van Slyke Collegian Contributing Writer Fifteen students from Behrend’s MIS Club attended a DPMA (Data Processing Manage ment Association) meeting on Wednesday, September 18. Each month the local chapter of DPMA holds a meeting at the Erie Elks Club. After dinner the club usually has a guest speaker or a presentation. At this meeting a film entitled The One-Minute Omicron Delta Kappa by Jim Zaczkiewicz Collegian Contributing Writer Penn State-Behrend Campus Ministry and Omicron Delta Kap pa are sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Wesleyville Food Pantry. Given the per capita in come of Africa, the Blacks in South Africa seem to be better off. than those in other parts of Africa.” He added, “I am no sup porter of Apartheid but that the Blacks in South Africa could be made worse off than they are right now and much of the policy of the “do-gooders” around the United States if they were inactive would make them worse off.” Making one final note, Williams said, “If we had economic sanctions against South Africa and stoped all trade by anybody but South Africa, those people would starve. The result would be something similar to Ethiopia in Mozambique. Com plete sanctions against South Africa would lead to no food. A hint would be to morally condemn Apartheid.” Through Dr. Walter Williams’ Manager was shown. The film (which is based on a book of the same title) is well-known in the business world for its unique views on management. A “one minute manager” is guided by “three secrets” which are explain ed in the film. These are: one minute goal setting, one minute praising and one minute reprimanding. The film was both interesting and informative—with some humorous examples given to St. James Roman Catholic Church. The food pantry will help feed those in need in the Wesleyville area. All interested students are welcome and encouraged to par ticipate in the food collection pro cess. The meeting was also designated as Scholarship Night. Each Night DPMA awards scholarship to deserving students from area colleges. This year, Behrend’s Geoff Whitney was awarded a 500 dollar scholarship. All members in attendance en joyed the evening and-were glad to have the opportunity to meet pro fessionals in the data processing field. but additional vehicles may by needed.
