Students are urged to file their applications by Feb. 15 to assure consideration for all aid pro grams. Listed below are the ap plications required and filing deadlines for both process may be addressed at the Financial Aid Of fice, or by consulting the Finan cial Aid Bulletin Board located on the second floor of the Reed Stu dent Union. A. Pennsylvania State Residents 1. STATE GRANT-FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATION For the 1985-86 academic year, PA undergraduate students should complete the State Grant- Federal Grant Application to be considered not only for state and federal aid, but also university ad ministered aid in conjunction with Martial Arts Club Organized by Jill Bedford Collegian Staff Writer The Student Government Association is considering the for mation of a Martial Arts club. Jeff Eagley, head of the forma tion committee, approached SGA with a tentative club constitution. The clutrmay lean towards self defense or several of the specializ ed martial arts. The particularities of the club will depend upon the interests of the club members. Area instructors in the martial arts field may be guests at meetings. Commuter Corner Commuter Council announces the following student services: - The Quiet Study Lounge is open in Niagara Hall. - The Commuter Bulletin Board, located between the Reed Lecture Hall and Student Affairs, is in use. - A Mardi Gras celebration is being planned for February. the University financial aid application. UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION This form must be filed in con junction with the STATE GRANT-FEDERAL GRANT ap plication in order to be considered for all types of University Aid (SEOG, NDSL, CWSP). The fil ing deadline is April 1. 3. UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION (3.0 GPA and above) This application must be sub mitted for academic scholarship consideration by March 1. Students must also submit finan cial information (through STATE-FEDERAL application) by Feb. 15. “I would like for the club to be run as a formal class,” said Eagley, “but, of course, the specifics of the club will depend upon the majority of the members’ interests and how much money will be allocated to the club by SGA.” SGA is expected to vote on the formation of the proposed club pending the formal reading and approval of the club’s constitu tion. Any student interested in joining the club should contact an SGA member or Jeff Eagley. - The cartoon showings at the beginning of each month will con tinue. FINANCIAL AID FORM (FAF) For the 1985-86 academic year, out-of-state students must file the FAF in order to be considered for federal aid, as well as university administered aid in conjunction with the university aid applica tion. To assure consideration for the university administered aid, the FAF, should be submitted by Feb. 15. 2. STATE AID The following states allow their aid to be used in Pennsylvania: Management Club Elects Officers Former Management Club president, Vinney Ciardullo, resigned upon his transfer from Behrend College. The Manage ment Club would like to introduce the new co-presidents, secretary, and treasurer of the club. The. co-presidents are Sharlene Teitel and Andy Pomerance. Amy Olson will serve as secretary and James Regalia is treasurer. Vice President Kecia Conley was unable to take on the presidency, in the absence of Vin ney, due to other club obligations Art Museum Offers Classes Interested in developing your creative skills? The curious amateur, intermediate or advanc ed level student can explore the unique world of visual art through various media at the Erie Art Museum located at 411 State St. Winter classes ’B5 will begin this month. .Seven adult classes are being offered in such areas as clay, graphic art and calligraphy, painting, photography, water color and drawing. . Two classes in day are planned, introducing students to the materials, basic firing techniques in handbuilding, and throwing of the potter’s wheel. In graphic art and calligraphy, beginners will learn basic lettering and calligraphy skills, layout, design and other techniques. Painting courses offer advance ment in drawing, painting and design dements. Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and West Virginia. Students from these states should file for aid by the various deadlines designated. Ap plications are available in the Financial Aid Office. 3. UNIVERSITY FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION AND UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS. Applications and deadlines are the same as for Pennsylvania and a senior internship which will be taking a major part of her time this semester. Teitel and Pomerance agreed to accept their new positions as a joint venture. They seem serious and excited about their new posi tions and have many new plans for the club. The Management Club meets every other Friday. The next meeting is Feb. 8, in the Reed Seminar Room at 12 noon. All students are welcome. For those interested in photography, basic. darkroom techniques include: spotting, tin ting, mounting and framing. Understanding how photography and the camera work will enhance the students’ appreciation of the aesthetics of photography. The course on watercolor offers exposure to either transparent or acrylic watercolor, various techni ques, composition, use of color, and control of the medium. The above applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Applications submitted after the deadline will be con sidered as funds are available. 2. In anticipation of Federal Verification Regulations, it is sug gested that all students make a photocopy of both parents and students 1984 U.S. Income Tax Return before mailing. These documents may be required before 1985-86 aid is finalized. 3. Students receiving aid are re quired to make satisfactory academic progress. Satisfactory academic standards for federal aid are defined on pages 34 and 35 of Policies and Rules for Students.
