Saltzman did not seek re-election to the SGA position. "I'm glad that I was able to work well with the new Senatorial positions developed by (former SGA President) Ed McCloskey," said Saltzman. Assessing his - performance, Saltzman feels that the major ac complishment of his administra tion was "initiating the drive to organize the student government. We've put a bit more profes sionalism into it, something which was previously lacking in part. And I think that the new constitu tion we ratified was the most im portant factor of this re organization." "Another significant ac complishment," he con tinued,"one that most students won't be aware of, is that it's now very likely that Behrend will soon have a representative on the Faculty Senate of University Park. This is a tremendous step for our campus." Saltzman also points to the large part the SGA played in securing major grants for Behrend. "We'll be able to have STATION ROAD, ERIE, PA. 16563 Behrend To Host Fashion Show By Phyland Robertson Theta Phi Alpha will be spon soring a Spring Fashion Show at Behrend on Thursday, April 26, according to sorority President Viva MacDougall. "We'll be doing three sets," said Viva. "There will be casual, swimwear and sportswear, and evening presentations." Vicki Lampe, an administrative secretary in the admissions office, will be the fashion show co ordinator. "Basically, my job entails Focus: On Jobs In 'B4 by Marge Tomczak The Job and Placement Office is going to present a two and a half hour program to help juniors and seniors FOCUS on the necessity of preparing early for jobs upon graduation. This pro gram is unlike any other that has been presented at Behrend. There will be large group presentations, small group workshops, and in dividual advising going on concurrently. There are three goals being at tempted by the Job and Place ment Office with their presenta tion of FOCUS. First, they want to make students realize that to get a good job, they have to start early. Secondly, they hope that students realize their strengths of academic life and what makes those strengths a marketable com modity. What have they done at Behrend and what does Behrend have that other colleges do not have? Lastly, it is their intention to establish a resource network with the alumni. With the help of former graduates, more informa tion can be provided to aid up new lighting for the Reed Lecture Hall, and we're getting a large screen TV for the RUB lounge, which should help improve condi tions for commuters. We were also able, through grants, to get significant amounts of money for the Yearbook," he said. "I was really happy to see that get going again." "We also played an instrumen tal role in setting up the first SGA area conference," Saltzman said. "Having the opportunity to meet with other student governments can only be helpful." Discussing the recent Student Government Association elec tions, said "I think Dan Johns (the newly elected SGA President) will have a good base to work directing the production and sup plying the models, who have been professionally trained in 'runway modeling' through my Chequer Modeling- Course," said Vicki. "They have also been taught fashion, make-up, and photography techniques." Vicki feels that the snow will be an "excellent opportunity for women and men at Behrend to learn about spring fashions, 1984." "I'm very happy to be working with Theta Phi Alpha," she said. coming graduates in preparing for employment. Faculty, alumni, and staff are combining their efforts to address areas such as graduate schools, resume critiques, types and ad vantages of internships. There will also be representatives to discuss career options of history, political science, communication, and Toth To Award Scholarships by Marge Tomczak All non-traditional students are eligible to apply for scholarships to be awarded by the Top Of The Hill Club. The ap plications can be picked up at the Financial Aid office located in the from next year. I have confidence in him, and in his vice-president, Doug Gerow, who has extensive knowledge of student government." "Doug and I collaberated well last year," continued Saltzman. "He was one of the hardest workers in the SGA.J'm sure he'll do an excellent job next year, too." Erie Hotline Needs Volunteers 453-5656 APRIL 13, 1984 Models for the presentation in clude Cheryl Musgrave, Karen Bates, Laurie Lydick, Tony Petrone, Viva MacDougall, and Joanna Liggett.
