BIOLOGICAL INVOLVEMENT ORGANIZATION The Biological Involvement Organiza tion (810 Club) seeks to promote in terest in life sciences at Penn State- Behrend and enrich the student. Membership is open to all full-time students. INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BUSINESS COMMUNICATORS lABC, Penn State•Behrend Student Chapter is a constituent member of lABC, Regional Student Chapter com prising all active college chapters in the Erie area. The Association strives to promote higher standards of organizational communications to in crease the professionalism in the field of business communication, to en courage education and training in the field and to promote ethical, effective practices among business com municates. Membership is open to all full-time students; associate member ship is available to all other interested persona. MANAGEMENT CLUB The Management Club encourages in terest in the management field by pro moting Behrend's Management pro grams, both two-year and four-year. The Club creates opportunities for students to broaden their knowledge in the management field. Social ac tivities are planned periodically. Membership is open to all full-time students in good standing, regardless of major or status, i.e. associate, pro visional, non-degree, etc. Associate membership is available to part-time students. PSYCHOLOGY CLUB The Psychology Club seeks to en courage interest in the psychology field byypromoting Penn State 's PaYebbibßY program, by creating opportunities for students to broaden their knowledge of the psychology logy field, as well as by pro social and intellectual ac tivities. Membership is open to all full time students, regardless i tzar ea ol. status, ie., associate, non-degree etc. Associate member ship is available to part-time students. ROTC ADVENTURE CLUB The ROTC Adventure Ciao provides STUDENT CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS an outlet and means for adventure type training and works with other Penn State-Behrend organizations to promote the enrichment of the College and of the community. Membership is open to all full-time students of Penn State-Beirend and to all employees. BEHREND COLLEGIAN The Behrend Collegian is the official news medium of students, faculty and administration at Penn State- Behrend. It strives to present an ac curate and balanced picture of life at Penn State•Behrend, both aeademic and cocurricular. The Collegian serves as a forum for the freest ex change of opinion on the part of students, faculty, administration and all others interested in Penn State- Behrend. In the execution of its func tion, the Collegian strives to live up to the highest traditions of the free and responsible press. Membership is open to any full-time student other wise qualified by the rules of the University. LITERARY MAGAZINE (TEMPUB) The function of Tempos, a nonprofit organization, is to produce a tri yearly, bi-yearly or yearly magazine of the highest quality and standards. The magazine will consist of articles supplemented with pictures and plc toral essays produced by members of the Temples staff. Any full-time stu dent at Penn State-Behrend who ex . - - an interest in publishing a I. 'ty magazine, and who is • • and capable of attending regular meetings, is eligible to serve as an officer or staff member of Tem pos. Part-time students may also par ticipate in writing the magazine. RADIO CLUB (WBCR) The Penn State-Behraid Radio Club provides the student body with educa tional and recreational radio pro gramming, and offers practical ex perience to those interested in the field of radio and broadcasting. The Club endeavors to supplement and assist the College in providing a well rounded educational environment. Membership on the Radio Club staff is open to hill-time students in good at Penn State-Bebrend. Part time students may also participate on a non-voting basis. y ►~ The Association of Black Collegians provides a vehicle to promote unity among Black students at Penn State- Behrend, to encourage campus and community involvement, to integrate students at the College, and to enhance awareness of Bladt culture at Penn State-Behrend. BARBELL CLUB The Barbell Club provides an oppor tunity for students to receive advice and guidance regarding weight lifting and body building, whether students are beginning, intermediate or ad vanced lifters. Membership is open to all full-time students; associate membership is available to part-time students. BEHREND COLLEGE CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION The BCCA provides interdenomina tional Christian fellowship on campus, and a better understanding of the Bi ble and its ap Qli to the issues of life and aca de . The Association promotes Christianity on campus, and serves to promote the interests of Penn State-Behrend. Membership is open to all full-time students; associate membership is available to part-time students. PENN STATE-BEHREND MUSIC SOCIETY The Penn State-Behrend Musicc Society provides quality musical ac tivities for the cultural enrichment of students, faculty and staff, and of residents of the surrounding com munity. This is accomplished through the performance of associate groups (e.g. Concert Choir, Swing Choir, Pep Band and The Statesmen) and guest artists. Membership is open to all full time students who have an interest in the Society; associate membership is available to part-time students. BERREND PLAYERS The Behrend Players seek to develop a general a ppreciation for the theatre through performance and to provide an opportunity for members to obtain experience in various phases of theatrical production. Membership is open to all full-time students at Penn State-Behrend who wish to pursue their respective interests in theatrically-related fields. Associate membership is available to part-time students. CHESS CLUB The Chess Club provides for students an opportunity to learn the game, to compete against other players on a basis, and to enter tour naments both on and off c Membership is open to all full-time students; associate membership is available to part-time students. SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY SOCIETY The Science Fiction and Fantasy Society at Penn State-Behrend strives to provide programs which serve the recreational and social interests of the College community. Membership is opal to all full-time students. TOP OF THE HILL GANG The Top of the Hill Gang serves to pro mote friendship, support and recrea tional activities for the members and to encourage involvement individual ly and as a group in general campus activities. Although the organization's central purpose is to provide fellowship for older, non-traditional students who bring life experiences to the college role, membership is open to all full-time students; associate membership is available to part-time students. VETERANS ORGANIZATION The Veterans Organization of Penn State-Bdwend seeks to promote com mon interests of veteran students. The ultimate aim of the Veterans Organization is to channel veteran student activities into positive con tributions for the College community. Membership is open to full-time students who, for a period of not less than 1110 days, served honorably in the United States Armed Forces. ALPHA PHI DELTA and ALPHA PHI DELTA LITTLE SISTERS The Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, Gam ma Gamma Chapter seeks to develop lasting friendships, to broaden educa tion, to provide a home at college, to build character, to increase college spirit, to develop leadership ability and to promote democratic living. Membership is extended to male students in accordance with the Na tional Constitution of Alpha Phi Delta; all full-time male students are eligible for• membership Alpha Phi Delta Lit tle Sisters is an informal group of female students which serves with Alpha Phi Delta, in an interdependent fashion, to achieve APD's goals and objectives. OUTING CLUB The Outing Club organizes outings and numerous recreational activities, in cluding snow skiing, rock climbing, backpacking, whitewater rafting and biking. ts Membership is open to all full time studen. RIFLE CLUB The Rifle Club at Penn State-Behrend represents the University in com petitive rifle shooting. An eight-person team is formed each year, comprised entirely of Rifle Club members, to &Urin intercollegiate competition. members compete against team members for a place on the team. All club members may participate in fun shoots and will learn safety and marksmanship skills for competitive shooting. Membership is open to all full-time students. I:1 :I UM Fill ;I The Penn State-Behrend Ski Club is an organisation strictly for downhill skiers. Lessons are provided for beginners, intermediate, and advanc ed skiers. STUDENT UNION BOARD The Student Union Board is the gover ning and programming body of the J. Elmer Reed Union Building at Penn State-Berend. The Board strives to plan, implement and evaluate pro. grams which serve the cultural, educational, recreational and social interests of Peon State-Behrend and the community. Members recom mend policy governing me of the Reed Union Building and are responsible for the administration of activities, programs and services which are of an allimilege nature appro= pe t r o the campus. Members learn sonal, communication, promotional and leadership skills. An Increasing number of Union Board members are developing independent studies for 14 credits that involve application of course material to real-life Tilts over which the Student Union Board has jurisdiction. Membership requires that a member serve in a leadership capacity. VOLLEYBALL CLUB The Volleyball Club is open to any full time student who has a genuine in terest in ying Power V= The Club seeks to build and interest in this increasingly posadar sport. Competition is arranged with other area colleges. „ t iit )3 ;1.801 Jail I I The Commuter Council seeks to plan, implement and evaluate activities for commuter students, and to edam's issues affecting commuter students at Penn State-rend. Membership is open to all full-time students; associate membership is available to all other interested persons. INTER-CLUB COUNCIL The Inter-Club Council is comprised of presidents of all officially-recognized student organizations at Penn State Behrend. The Council meets regularly to plan activities that require the =Snition of several organizations. as Autumn Weekend, the OChristmas Bazaar, Winter Festival and Spring Week. JOINT RESIDENCE COUNCIL The Joint Residence Council relates the views of students living in the residence halls to the administration and to the Student Senate student welfare. In addition, sponsors activities that meet needs and satisfy interests of resident students at Penn State-Behrend. Membership is comprised of hill floor presidents elected at the beginning or each academic year. All students in terested in the JRC are welcome to participate in Council activities on a non-voting basis, however. L j u J L a The Student Senate is the governing body of the student population at Penn Stateßehrend. The Senate strives to voice student opinions on academic and cocurricular affairs, to support academic and cocurricular activities that contribute to the betterment of social and intellectual life on the cam pus, to represent the interests of the student body to the faculty and the ad ministration and to support the rights of students at all times. The Senate is dedicated to the principle of academic freedom and to the realisation of the broadest education for students. Of ficial members include Presidents of the Upper and Lower Divisions, Stu dent Union Board, Joint Residence Council, Commuter Cowie% Inter- Club Council, the Treasurer and Secretary. All students interested in Student Senate are welcome to par ticipate in Senate activities on a non voting basis, however. LAMBDA SIGMA SOCIETY The Alpha Eta Chapter of Lambda Sigma fosters leadership, scholarship and the spirit of service. Comprised of sophomores elected into membership on the basis of outstanding academic and service amenplialments, Lamb da Sigma serves and promotes the in terests of The Behrend College of The Pennsylvania State University. OMICRON BETA KAPPA Omicron Beta Kappa is an honor society for outstanding Junior and Senior students and for faculty. Elected into membership on the basis of outstanding academic and service accomplishments, student members interact with faculty members to help mould the sentiment of the institution on questions of local and inter collegiate interest.
