Most of Letters To Editor Dear Editor: My purpose in writing these let ters to the Collegian is not to of fend but to awaken. The message in the letters is not my own, it is the message that Jesus Christ and His followers preached. 'ln the last letter, I wrote that Americans have come to accept a form of religion that is a twen tieth century perversion of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. This religion earls for a once a week trip to church and an attitude of being nice to people. The Bible's message is clear: "For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. The faith is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it." (Ephesians 2:8-9). So, we won't get to heaven by going to church, praying at night or by fasting but only by faith in the atoning work of the One who saves us from our sin, Jesus Christ. - • Because Jesus took the penalty of our sinon the cross, we can be cleansed from sin and know God and go to heaven. However, because Jesus died in our place, we have an obligation Coordinator Of Public Information From the Desk of -Ben E. Han cock Jr:: It gives me great pleasure to announce the appointment of Jim H. Davis as the new coordinator of public information for Penn State-Behrend. As coordinator, Davis will be responsible for news writing, media relations, publications, advertising, and capital gifts pro posals to foundations. We will serve as editor of both the "Behrend Bulletin" and "Behrend Quarterly". All of the above'activities will be crucial to the success of our Capital Gifts Campaign. Davis' office is located on- the second floor of the Administra tion Building; -Room 222. Iris telephone extension is 202. Due to the loss of an ineligible catcher, T'CoaCh -. Janet Wilson recruitedßarb Schroeck as a cat cher. She's an inexperienced cat cher, but a determined player. The team then went on to win their next two games against Buf falo State and Villa Maria College. In the Buffalo State game, where they won 4-3, Mackowski had a 3-hitter with 4 strike-outs. She also had 2 hits and 3 RBl's. The game came down to the top of the 7th inning, with 2 outs and the score tied at 3-3. Captain the damage came when Mark Holliday hit a fly misjudged by the outfield with bases loaded br inging home all three runners. The students scored in every inn ing except the first. The Faculty finally got on the scoreboard when Paul Bailey got his first hit of the game bringing Ellen Johns and Paul Rosenfield in for runs. The faculty did have some -ex cellent play by infielder Ellen Johns and catcher Roger Sweeting and got a little excite- to Him: "He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again" (II Corinthians 5:15). - If one is living a self-directed and self-centered lifestyle, then he/she is breaking the greatest commandment of all: "Love the Lord your God with- ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, with ALL your mind and ALL your strength." Many of us try to appease God by putting in time here and there but God is satisfied with nothing less than ALL of our time, efforts and even money. We can become rich and famous or "better ourselves" at college but well come up short in the end if we don't lose our lives to God. God doesn't want us to become spineless and mindless, He wants us to make His goals and desires our priorities. If a person wants to run His own life, there is no room for him/her in the Kingdom of God. This is the message of Jesus Christ, only a fool would fail to heed His call.
