Page Four 3-0 in Keystone Women's Basketball Doing Fine by Robin BaakUng Collegian Staff writer Women’s basketball is alive and well at Behrend College, or at least it’s greatly improving. This optimistic outlook is due to the current three game winning streak the women have struggled to gain. In their most recent game against Westminster, the lady Cubs outscored their op ponents 86 to 55. Coach Amy Atkinson is very proud of -ie women’s stamina and desire to win. “We had only two actual weeks of practice before our first three games. Those players had conditioning, offensive strategies, defensive drills, and everything imaginable jammed down their throats so fast that it was amazing that they all hung in there.” The team includes sophomore letterwomen Sharon Vinston, The following is a list of available dorm contracts at U.P. As with every team sport, the more the players practice together; the better they look. “We’re just beginning to really function as a team unit,” said Coach Atkinson. “The potential of combined talent out there is much greater than our record shows, but we’re finally starting to come out of the closet and play our type of basketball.” She recalled the victory over Thiel College last Saturday where the Cubs rallied from a 14 point deficit at half time to score 36 points second half to win the game. “These girls never give up, and it was fantastic to see all Pboae (814) 865 winter-spring livn winter-spring 17020 winter-spnng 07$$ winter-spring 0144 winter-spring 514 s spring 2377 spring 2377 winter-spring 5581 winter-spring 6620 winter-spring 6297 winter-spring 9952 winter-spring 8463 winter-spring 0928 winter-spring' 5625 winter-spring, 0741 winter-spring 2613 winter-spring 4013 winter-spring 9239 winter 2187 spring 4224 spring 9079 winter-spring 9665 spring 3139 spring 9448 8892 4939 9630 0863 238-2672 PHONE (814)865 spring 9175 spring 9175 spring 5397 winter-spring 4225 winter-spring 2119 MONDAY 20 Washington's Birthday FEMAtE Address SallieOugb Tori Masterson 106 Haller 602 Wolf Sue Benton 209 Stephens Joanne M. Coach Atkinson quickly indicates that many of these points could not be possible without the deft assists from Sharon Vinston, Leslie Stinson, and Sue Deck. “Those three are my main dribblers, and I rely heavily on than to move our offense.” Defensively, Sharon Vinston poses many a headache for the opponents. She has caused more than 56 turnovers, either due to intense pressure or outright steals. “Sharon is by far the quickest player on the team. She rarely gets into foul trouble and is not an overly glamorous player, but she sure has helped us out in every aspect of the season,” comments Amy when asked about the freshman center. Yet the team is actually noted for its lack of “stars”; the total team effort replaces that theory. “You’d better believe it,” said the Coach, “when I say that all nine girls contribute on this team. Already, there is considerable evidence that the human life span can be more than doubled. By the middle of the 21st century, most of us could still be alive, youthful and vigorous, with the prospect of many more productive years ahead. With the help of startling audiovisual effects, Saul Kent will explore the profound personal and social implications of life extension, examine how it is likely to be achieved, and discuss the prospect of living forever. SAUL KENT has been a life extension activist and "hard-core immortalist" for more than 13 years. In 1965, he and several others founded the planet's first cryonics society. He later assisted in placing four people into cryonic (frozen) suspension. A writer on biomedical aging research and life extension for medical and ly begun work on the Life Extension Handbook. His past writings include a book entitled Future Sex. Kent also serves as a consultant to several companies in the field including Trans Time, Inc, The Foundation For Infinite Survival, Alza Corporation, and the Futures Group.
