Then Monday, Behrend again

weather was cool, the field in
good condition, and the score at
the final whistle was Behrend -3,
Grove City - 2.
Grove City scored first, eight
minutes after the start of the
game, putting the pressure on
when their outside right and
outside left teamed up to put one
by from the center. Just three
minutes later, Behrend's outside
left, Gary Zemanski with an
assist from inside left Mark
Rudolf, drove the ball in from the
corner to tie the score at 1-1,
where it remained till well into
the second half.
At the twenty-three 'minute
point of the second half, Grove
City broke the tie by scoring on a
play by the center forward and
left halfback. The battle con
tinued till very near the end of the
game when our inside left Mark
Rudolf, with an assist from left
fullback Mike Warner, tied the
score again with forty-three

minutes gone in the half. Some
fans were already figuring on
overtime play at that point, when,
with just thirty seconds left in the
game, Behrend scored again,
insuring the win and dashing
Grove City's hopes for good. The
winning goal was achieved by left
fullback Mike Warner.
The statistics show that
Behrend played the better game
_from the technical point of view
also. The Cubs made twenty-five
shots to Grove City's seventeen
and there were assists on all
goals. Behrend with three, Grove
City only two as shown by the
score. The win_ brings the Cubs'
win - loss record for the season to
an impressive 8-4. Throughout
the season the Cubs have scored
thirty-seven times in varsity
games, and been scored on only
seventeen times by all their
opponents combined. A fine,
successful season for all Behrend
to be proud of. My
congratulations to the team, and
to their Coach, Mr. Lauffer.
