He also said he had never been on the winning side ol that kind of match and he felt kind of sorry for the other team knowing how they ielt but he didn't want to trade places. High scorers for Allegheny were Patsy Stover and B. Woodward. The team will be on the road for the next game February 20 with Thiel College at Greenville. broken all previous records with the number of wins this season. From my point of view, all I can say is that match was the most exciting event I had ever seen. As for the triangular match at Ryerson in Canada, it also turned out better than expected. It was the first time all of the Cubs had wrestled Olympic freestyle ex cept for Julio and it showed and hurt in a couple of matches. It w as an interesting experience but all the matches were good; the draws, the wins and the losses. The coach said the guys were a little apprehensive at the onset of the match but with Jules and Keith both winning it helped build a lot of confidence. Coach Onorato stated that this match was in teresting for several reasons but mostly because they were in a different country and using dif ferent style and rules. Additionally Ryerson Poly Tech Institute and University of Western Ontario are the two biggest schools we compete against. The atmosphere of the match was relaxed and informal and the other coaches even ad mitted we were better than they expected. , .^AHBegr- ;■* Behrend’s wrestling team shows pride with their coach Mr. Onorato having won two of their last three matches. Behrend Collegian Cubs McKinney's Destroying Every coach’s dream is to have his team go out on the court and simply annihilate its opponents all year round. If it can’t happen all year long, at least let it happen once in a while. Behrend’s. Basketball team, suffering a rather disappointing campaign, finally made coach Roger Sweeting’s dream into reality. The Cubs put it all together and wound up with its most convincing win of the season: 111 to 76 over Eisenhower College. Like a finely tuned machine, the Cubs outshot, out rebounded and out hustled the Generals, to snap its four game losing streak. Glenn McKinney paced the way for Behrend by canning a game high of 27 points. Glenn hit on 12 field goals and added three from the foul line. He was followed closely by teammates Mark Boroway and Denny Deiner with 24 and 20 points respectively. The latter also contributed 21 rebounds. Eisenhower held an early 12 point lead in the first half when the Cubs went into a cold spell. This didn't last for long as they went on a wild spree hitting from all over the court. They finally tied the game when Mark Boroway hit from the charity stripe. This gave the Cubs a 42 to 36 halftime lead. From there on it was all down hill for Behrend. The Cubs came out in the second half all fired up and blew the Generals right off the court. Led by their captain Glenn McKinney, the Cubs began to fast break the Eisenhower team. This simply destroyed them. Glenn hit for eight straight points right at the start and opened up a 50 to 36 lead. Each time the Generals tried to come back, Behrend would build an even bigger lead. Everyone started canning shots, and before the delighted crowd in Erie Hall knew exactly what happened, the Cubs went over the century mark for the first time this year. It happened when Ron Miller hit a 15 foot jumper from the side with 2:09 remaining. Ten Cubs combined their scoring talents to pound out the wsffisasarmaSsMSta. HWT Hotchkiss (B) won by forfeit. Well, maybe in a personal response I can clear up some of the mystery by describing to the editor one of the biggest problems I have to cope with on this campus; Saturday nights. By the time a weekend rolls around, let’s face it, we all look forward to unwinding. Some of my friends turn on to pot, some sex, others alcohol. They’re all illegal in one sense or the other but they’re still an attempt on the part oL the student to do something “exciting” or “special”. Usually though, at least for myself, Saturday nights turn out to be frustrating evenings. Take this past February 10 as an example. This one started out promising enough with a smashing basketball (RAH TEAM!) victory which very few attended—a prime example of student apathy. After a victory like that, it is just too difficult to spend the evening studying. My scheming i'emaie mind calculated there had to a victory celebration somewhere af terward and estimated my chances of being included unin vited were slim, but promising since I had the proper con nections. Two hours later, cramped tightly into a room packed with melting snowmen instead of sweating athletes I watched “our” keg (still thawing from the ski slope) escorted from the room by Security. There’d be no basketball team victory party or riotous keggar tonight. In sheer desparation I toured the campus bundled to the point of perspiration and chomped my sober (I never got a drop of beer!) frustrations away on a bag of cookies that were kind enough to consent to accompany me. EISENHOWER-76 . The John-Wayne-Bug-Bunny- Whatever-They-Were-Al 1-Night- Movies seemed revolting and I concluded my interesting evening battling a cantakerous washer for my laundry. It, at least, took a liking to this poor female. In fact, it did so to such an extent that it insisted upon washing my clothes four times nonstop, before it, shocked by my profanity, belched them out still sopping wet. But that’s life at Behrend. Now maybe this amuses you but to me this whole series of misadventures was more typical than exceptional. And the worst thing of all is, I know next weekend will be frustratingly similar. Am I myself an ex ception? No, I don’t think so. If names had been taken at the keggar, half the campus would now be on probation. So it is my (and my bag of chocolate chips) conclusion (since we thought it all out together) this college is lucky its students are so unenthusiastic! To us it is a wonder we haven’t ripped it to shreds!
