January 25,1973 SPORTS REPORTS Could It Re? With the way politics are taking over the sports world lately, don’t be surprised if the situation comes along that when a person wins a national championship, they become a main political figure. If this fictional statement ever became true, it might sound something like this: Reporter interviewing World Champion Miami Dolphin head coach, Don Shula: “Mr. Shula, congratulations on becoming the President of the United States, with your thrilling upset over George Allen (head coach of the Washington Redskins). What . factors can you contribute to your startling success?’’ President Shula: “Well, I don’t see why people consider it an upset. Actually since we went undefeated throughout the year and won the Super Bowl, with fantastic (ahem) strategy, I consider myself as qualified for the job as President than anyone.” Reporter: “Mr. President, have you selected your cabinet yet?” Shula: “No, not yet, but I have a few people in mind.” Reporter: “Could you give us a brief hint who you might select? ’' Shula: “Well, for Secretary of Defense, I was considering Jake Scott. Chief negotiator for the Paris Peace talks is Garo Tepremium, because of his ability to keep , things up in the air.” Reporter: “What about the war in Viet Nam I heard you were sending over some new army personnel.” Shula: “Yes, I figured what we needed to do was first control things on the ground, so I sent over three men to take care of the ground attack. They were Major Larry Csonka; Captain Jim Kick and Captain Mercury Morris. Csonka will be the main figure while Kick and Morris will share the duties. To take care of the air attack I am using two field generals. First, is General Bob Greise and backing him up is General Earl Morrell.” Reporter: “I'also hear that you replaced one of your best pilots. Why is that?” Shula: “Yes, Captain Kurt Knight was once a fine bom badeer but lately he keeps missing the targets.” Reporter: “Well, changing the subject, I heard that you planned on changing the nation’s capitol to Miami. Is this true? Shula: “Yes it is, because I feel the people in Miami are the greatest. They are always jubiliant and waving their white hankerchiefs. I figure if anything ever goes wrong they’re always ready to use them to cry on." Reporter: “Do you think that Congress will go along with this idea?” THE ERIE BOOK STORE 717 FRENCH STREET 452-3354 FORTY’S CLEANER & TUXEDO RENTAL Free Pick-Up & Delivery Ph. 899-1182 K-MART EAST 1 HOUR CLEANING by Dave Lojewski Sports Editor Shula: “No, I left it up to my chief aid, Garo Tepremium to pass the bill in Congress, but it was intercepted by the House and turned down.” Reporter: “Well, thank you Mr. President for letting me take up your valuable time, and I wish good things come to' you in the future.” Reporter: “Well, this con cludes our interview with newly formed President, Don Shula. We are sure he will fulfill the needs of the American people with his brilliant strategy in handling situations. It was rumored today that former President Richard Nixon will coach the Washington Redskins next year. Upon hearing this the former Chief of State replied; “It’s not that I want to coach a professional team so much, it’s just that all I want is a fair chance of becoming President again.” Job Placement For Perspective Graduates Sign-up for job placement in T terviews for perspective graduates in both baccalaureate and associate degrees, is taking place in the Student Affairs Office. Resumes are being requested and also index cards containing vital information By lienee Ik-aslip Sports Writer What can I say about Satur day’s return match with Waynesburg? I can give lots of possible excuses for our rather poor game: the bus was too warm and by the time we got there we w ere ready to go to sleep, we had lost a close one to them only a week before, or it was the far thest we have traveled so far. Maybe if we had had an extra five minutes we could have won but we didn’t, so we lost. The Cubs were rather slow and took a while to get moving, where the Yellow Jackets jumped right in and took the lead.
