Minniefield was arrested Tuesday along the Bayfront Connector while trying to board a bus to Cleveland after robbing a bank earlier that afternoon. Minniefield is quoted as saying that he was "sick of being poor." The FBI says he has admitted to entering the bank wearing a blue scarf over his nose and mouth. He did not carry a gun. ERIE The local District Attorney wants a reinstatement of Teri Rhodes' nine to 18-year sentence for the involuntary manslaughter of her infant daughter. Rhodes gave birth in 2007 as an 18-year-old student in an apartment. The case was appealed, and overturned again. It will be up to Rhodes' lawyer, Philip Friedman, to file a response. The Supreme Court will then decide whether or not to review the case. WEHRER news editor President Barack Obama delivered his first State of the Union address to Con ,grs,s,on Jan. 27. The speech comes at a difficult political time for the president and his agenda. While the president's party still maintains a strong majority in the House of Representives, they were dealt a strong blow by the election of a Republican to the Senate seat left vacant by the death of longtime Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy. With the "supermajority" of 60 votes in the Senate gone, President Obama's first major political goal of health care reform is seen by many to be in doubt, and he addressed those con cerns in his speech. "I took on health care be cause of the stories I've heard, from Americans with pre-existing conditions whose lives depend on get ting coverage," he said. "Pa tients who've been denied coverage, families, even those with insurance, who are just one illness away from financial ruin." He also poked fun at the Jerome David Salinger, author of the classic novel "The Catcher in the Rye" and numerous short stories, died at his home in New Hampshire of natural causes. The 91-year-old broke his hip in May, but appeared to be in good health before suf fering a rapid decline in Jan uary.
