At the end of the contest the Nittany Lions had a 52-3 victory after dominating Eastern Illi nois in all facets of the game. It is the type of complete game performance Linebacker U faithful have been anticipating the entire season. It is espe cially a relief to Lions fans wor rying about the teams’ mental toughness in the second half. Before facing Eastern Illinois, the Nittany Lions outscored op ponents 83-11 in the first half of games. The team was barely edging out opponents 52-47 in the latter half of games. The offense roared onto the scene and scored four touch downs and a field goal in its first five possessions. The early offensive effort was led by quarterback Darryl Clark's rushing touchdown and three touchdown throws. The team will play its last six games against Big Ten opponents starting with Minnesota, (4-2, 2-1). Injury Update: Linebacker Sean Lee may fi nally return to anchor the mid dle of the defense. Lee has been out since suffering a sprained knee in the fourth quarter against Temple on Sept. 19. Lee was dressed as soon as Sept. 26 to face lowa, but an as sistant coach was instructed to hide Lee’s helmet from him for his own physical safety. Despite missing half of the team’s games so far this season Lee is second on the team with 32 tackles and second with seven and a half tackles for a loss. Karen Hobaugh led an im pressive Lions squad to three conference victories this past week by defeating DYouville at home and then going on the road to beat Frostburg State and Penn State Altoona. Hobaugh played in both dou bles and singles matches and was victorious in all of her con tests. Against Frostburg State, Hobaugh won her singles match by scores of 6-0 and 6-2. She also teamed up in doubles was expected to be closer. The Cardinals may have had what was arguably the best pitching rotation in MLB, how ever the Dodgers pitchers stole the show in the series. In game three of the series, Vicente Padilla pitched seven straight scoreless innings and gave up only four hits in the win. At one point, he retired 17 of 18 hitters. The Dodgers will face the reigning World Champion Philadelphia Phillies in the Na- orts to take the match by a score of 8-6. Hobaugh went on to defeat her opponent in singles against D'Youville 6-1, 6-0 and Penn State Altoona 6-2,6-2. She also got a victory in doubles against Altoona by a tally of 8-1.
