The Pittsburgh Penguins have kept
fans on the edge of their seats at the
start of the new season as three out of
their five games have been decided
with less than a minute to go in over
time.
The team started the 2008-2009 sea
son with a tough opening schedule
against four powerful teams in the
Eastern Conference who all made the
playoffs last year.
With a total of five points, the
Penguins are 2-2-1 overall.
The Penguins first two games were
against the Ottawa Senators in
Sweden. The Pens then traveled back
to Pittsburgh to face the New Jersey
Devils. Philadelphia Flyers, and
Washington Capitals.
Overseas, the Penguins won one
and lost one against the Senators. The
Pens won the first game in overtime 4-
3 when center Tyler Kennedy scored
with ten seconds remaining. The next
day, the Senators stepped up their per
formance and won 3-1.
The Penguins played the New
Jersey Devils in their home opener at
the Mellon Arena. Despite being out
shot 49-13 by the Devils, the Pens
were somehow able to add a point to
their record as they lost in overtime by
a score of 2-1. Penguins right winger
Miroslav Satan scored a power play
goal at 11:52 in the first period of play.
The Devils did not tie the game up
