Behrend soccer hosts Westminster Titans As the weather worsened throughout Saturday afternoon, the lady Lions drew much atten tion to the Behrend Fields as they faced a very tough Westminster Titans soccer team. The crowd was very support ive, even as flooding rains con tinued. In the first half of the game, the Lady Lions split time of possession with the Titans. With 2:24 left in the first half, the Titans’ Sarah Nee scored a goal to give the Titans the lead and considerable momentum going into the second half. When the teams took the field, the battle resumed, though the playing surface was beginning to resemble a swamp. The Penn State Behrend Lions tied up the game with 10:30 left on the Behrend players take the ball down the field towards the end of the game against rival Westminster. Athlete Spotlight: In the midst of his three trips to winning regions in high school, Joe Nelson knew that golf might be more than just a leisure sport. He began playing at a young age. His competitive golf career started as he entered high school. “I had a great time,” Nelson recalls, “and the awesome part about it was that we had an absolutely Bv T.J. The Titans led a game-winning drive capped off by a goal by senior forward Christina Adams. The Behrend Lions played with amazing determination as they fought through the pouring rain, but just couldn't get that last goal, as the Titan goal tender had an awesome game. Kayla Frost of Penn State Behrend also played out of her shoes as she had many saves that helped to keep the game close. She also took a big hit from a Titans forward with 4:48 left in the game. Behrend's Caitlyn Bleggi also had a strong game as she fought off the Titans' offensive players throughout the entire game. Though the Lady Lions lost to the Titans 2-1. they showed a lot of positives. How they fought through the stormy fields is what impressed fan Michael Diluzio of Penn State. "Just being able to stay on their feet for most of the game was incredible." he said. "The slide tackling of the play ers all over the field is what real ly got me into the game." said Jason Kuruc of Penn Stale Behrend. Penn State's women's soccer also traveled to Grove City on Sepi 16 and took down their opposition 2-1. When asked what the best part of golf was, he responded immediately. “Definitely the fun, the comraderie... we have a great time out there, and while winning is a great part of it, it’s just worth it to spend the time with friends.” Steelers extend rivalry Black and Gold lead After a not-so-impressive win. the Steelers continue to dominate their opponents. The Steelers beat the Browns 10-6 despite injuries suffered in last week's game against the Houston Texans. The Prime Time game, the rivalry, the undefeated streak at stake didn't seem to affect the Steelers. The game started out at a slow pace, with only four first downs made in the first quarter, three of which belonged to the Steelers. After the first quarter slowly ended. Bryant McFadden caused an interception which lead to the first score of the game, a strike from Big Ben to Hines Ward. In the second half. Jeff Reed kicked a 48 yard field goal, which was the last score for the Steelers. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played an exem plary game, regardless of the "sprained" shoulder he endured in week one. Earlier in the week, when Roethlisberger was asked about his shoulder, he replied "It hurls." When asked if he would play against the Browns, he answered "1 have no choice." Roethlisberger did not practice on Wednesday and had limited reps at practice on Thursday. Roethlisberger finished the game completing 12 of 19 pass attempts for 186 yards and the only touchdown of the game. Thanks to his performance on Sunday night. Roethlisberger remains the number one quarter back in the NFL. with a 136.3 quarterback rating. With this win. Roethlisberger remains undefeated in his home state of Ohio.
