Florida for their Spring Break. From March S-14. the women played two games per day against a handful of opponents. The Blue and White wrapped up the week u iill a record of X-2. The women come into the season with a successful year in 2(107 owning a record of 29-16 and a trip to the ECAC lournameni lor the first lime since 1995. The 2008 team poses a strong chance for success for Behrend as they return seven siariers and lour other roster players. Stacey Hondo returns for her fifth year as head coach for the Lions. Hondo is assisted by coaches Joe Dulak. Karla Murray ami Tom Jakubowski. In 2006. after winning the AMCC Championship. Hondo coached the women to their first NCAA lournameni appearance. Along with coaching. Pondo is also the assistant to the director of athletics. In 2006. she was named the AMCC Coach of the Year. In 2005. she took Behrend to the AMCC semifinals and was named AMCC ( o-Coach of the Sear I.leum players from ihe 2007 season return to the 200 S roster, ineluding seven starters. Lauren Lubie is the only senior on the team this year followed by 10 standout juniors. Three of the 10 juniors .uv All AMCC First-Team players. Kasehauer was named the AMCC Softball Player of the Week and Koman was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week for the w eek of March 17. Even while the pressure of deciding was temporarily dismissed during his basketball season, he still managed to remain in the limelight after his basketball team got into a scuffle with another team during playoffs. The Behrend Lions will begin conference play on Wednesday March 26 when they take on the Medaille Mavericks at home ai 3 p.m. Pryor was the first football player in Pennsylvania to both rush and pass for more than 4,000 yards. He has been heavily recruited on a nation wide basis for both football and basket ball. Over spring break, the Behrend women's softball team traveled to Clermont, FL to open up their sea son. The women posted an 8-2 record overall over a six-day stretch of play. Koman stood out for the blue and white, winning in all five games she pitched last week. Julie posted 30 strikes in 35 innings of work, including a no-hitter against Wesfield. She allowed only six earned runs on 22 hits while on the mound. The team open up AMCC play with a double head er against Medaille college on Wednesday, March 26.
