Penn State University joined the technological revolution when 80.000 Lion Cash plus I.D. cards were introduced at over 25 Penn State Campuses; 6.000 of which were dis tributed to Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. These cards promised a new and more convenient way for students to do laundry, buy books at the Penn State Book Store, and dine at on- and off campus locations. With this technology Behrend students can add funds by going to the new Housing and Services office (located in Senat Hall) by adding money at the cash register in Bruno's, or by easily adding funds through www.idcard.psu.edu with the use credit or debit cards. Lion Cash Plus was first intro duced to Penn State University after the failure of its Diners Club cards, which were comput er chip generated ID cards. These cards were similar to Lion Cash because they allowed students to use the laundry facil ities. dine at the dining halls and use the vending machines; however, there w'ere many draw backs with this card; the first being that only 99 dollars were allowed on each card which meant that students would have to frequently replenish their cards. Another setback was that when a student lost his or her card there was no way to retrieve the money that was on it because the account information was only attainable through that card. So if the card was either lost or stolen who ever found it would be able to deplete its funds and the owner would not even be able to suspend the missing card. The owner would have to get a new card and then add more money to that card. A third problem was that the students could only add funds to the card by taking it to the Housing and Food Services office, Police and Safety 9/15/06 1:00 a.m. - Noticed a vehicle had driven between the top and middle tier of the Ohio Hall parking lot. 9/15/06 4:55 a.m. - Janitorial employee reported that a computer keyboard was missing from room 57 in the Kochel Center. 9/15/06 6:14 a.m. - Student reported damage to vehicle. 9/16/06 12:40 a.m. - An officer approached quad, on-duty RAs reported numerous disturbances in that area.
