NEWS Jerry Pohl/ THE BEHREND BEACON Jeny Pohl/ THE BEHREND BEACON Club Rush interests students Over 50 of Penn State Behrend’s clubs and organizations came together for an event called Club Rush. Students attended and were invited to get information and join the clubs. The event was accompanied by a caricature artist, a Fun Foto station, and a raf fle drawing for many prizes including a $5O gas card, all day passes to Splash Lagoon, lift tickets for Peek’n Peak, and many others. Students could also help themselves to refreshments and tunes provided by a DJ. The event lasted three hours in McGarvey Commons. The dedication took place at the Lion’s permanent location at the crossing of paths near REDC, Junker Center and the Smith Chapel. Those who spoke were Dr. Ken Miller, Director of Student Affairs; Dr. Jack Burke, Chancellor; Mike Woods, Council of Fellows Member and Meredith Straub, Student Government President. There were several contributors who made the Lion Shrine possible. The graduating classes of 2003 and 2004 raised money for the statue and there were several other major donors to the Lion statue, including Woods and Ted Junker, University Trustee. There were many students, faculty and staff in attendance, eager to see the official unveiling of the Lion Plaza.
