Going to the funeral helped everyone gain some much needed closure.” A 10-minute ceremony was held for Faith before the men’s Grove City game on Tuesday. Last year’s women’s team lined up on one end of the pool while Faith’s #6 cap was placed on a goalpost at the opposite end of the pool. The faculty, staff and student body are encouraged to wear the Penn State blue and white. “We try to get the office staff to wear blue and white on Fridays so students can recognize there is something going on that weekend," said Mr. Brian Streeter, Director of Athletics. For the last five years, the Athletic Department has been organizing Spirit Days. Stacy Pondo is the head organizer this year, and is also in charge of promoting for the Pizza Hut Spirit Days. Every two Fridays, all year, there will be a sporting event here on campus. If a student dresses in blue and white, they will receive a free gift from the athletic department. Spirit days are mostly for the faculty and staff. When Mr. Streeter first took his position seven years ago as Director of Athletics, he felt the faculty was not enthusiastic enough for school spirit. So to get people to support Behrend Athletics, he created Spirit Days. “It’s hard to build spirit without football, very difficult, but I think we’ve changed the attitude on campus,” said Streeter.
