Tau Kappa Epsilon will brave Lake Erie
The brothers of Tau Kappa Ep
silon are looking forward to a fun
and productive spring semester.
They will be participating in sev
eral activities that will be both en
tertaining and beneficial to chari
table causes.
On March 27, the brothers will
hold their second annual "Ice
Plunge" which benefits the
Ronald Reagan Alzheimer's
Foundation. The active chapter
will be diving into the freezing
waters of Lake Erie to raise
money for this cause. During last
year's event alone, the fraternity
raised close to $3,000. This year,
they plan on exceeding that fig
ure and making the event bigger
and better. It will be an-all day
event with a variety of refresh
ments included. Brothers will be
Alpha Sigma Alpha
This semester the sisters of
Alpha Sigma Alpha are very
excited to extend their sisterhood
to new girls.
From the beginning of January,
the sisters have worked hard on
recruitment. Rush parties, times
for anyone to come and get to
know the sisters, were planned.
These included an "under the sea"
theme where black lights were set
up to decorate and give an ocean
effect. The sisters also held a
pajama party, where they all used
their artistic skills to play
Pictionary. Not wanting anyone
to miss their favorite TV shows,
the sisters also watched "Friends"
on Thursday nights while doing
arts and crafts.
At a rush party, girls have a
chance to meet new people, 24
new people to be exact. An Alpha

opportunity for friendship. This
friendship is unique and can
develop into sisterhood.
Sisterhood has a special meaning
for each individual girl.
The opportunity for sisterhood
exists for everyone. Along with
the valued friendships developed
throughout the years, the sisters of
Alpha Sigma Alpha help the local
community. On Feb. 3, the sisters
held their annual Date Auction.
Approximately $l,OOO was raised
to benefit the S. June Smith Center
and the Special Olympics.
Later in the semester, the girls
will sport a turtle costume and go
to local elementary schools and
read to classes.

Sigma Tau Gamma(STG) is
looking forward to the spring se

community, Parents Weekend,
and rush events, the brothers will
be very active.
This semester, STG will be do
ing a clothing drive that benefits
the Salvation Army. Brothers and
students will be asked to donate
clothes that they no longer wear.
Parents Weekend will be held
on March 20-21. A banquet din
ner will be held at the Quaker
Steak and Lube. Every year par
ents turn out in full force to sup
port their sons.
This semester rush events con
sisted of bowling and attending an
Otters game.
"I think our rush this semester
went well," said Josh Kaylor,
Sigma Tau Gamma executive
commander and chief. "Lots of
people participated and we all had
a good time."
STG participates in every intra
mural event. Sometimes multiple
STG teams play in an event. The
brothers feel that this helps with
their unity.

just out to have fun," said Kaylor.
At the end of February they will
be selling magazine subscriptions
to magazines such as Rolling
Stone, Sports Illustrated, etc. This
is a major fund-raiser that will
benefit the new house fund.
The STG formal will be held on
April 17. During the formal,
awards are given out to brothers
who have excelled in the frater
nity.
"Our formal is always a good
time. A lot ofAlumni and Sweet
hearts come back for the ban
quet," said Andy McNeil, STG
Scholarship King.
STG will be actively participat
ing in Greek Fair. The brothers
feel that Greek Fair is beneficial
to the Behrend Community.
"Greek Fair compiles the fun
and excitement of Greek Week
into one festive night," said
McNeil.
While all the brothers partici
pate in fraternity events, they also
excel as individuals.
McNeil runs the Diehl adopt-a
school program through the Smith
Chapel. The Behrend students
who participate are volunteers.

just as successful and fun this
April.
Finally, the brothers will collec

and meet TKE's from other chap
ters. First, they will be visiting
the Pi chapter at Penn State Uni
versity Park. Then they will travel
to Morgantown to meet the Rho
chapter at West Virginia Univer
sity. Both trips will be for the
whole weekend and should be fun
and beneficial for the active chap

the sale of Krispie Kremes from
the sisters
This semester's recruitment
has been quite sucessful. The
sisters are ecstatic with our new
pledge sisters, also known as
Tau class. These girls truly ex
press the many qualities which
make a Theta Phi Alpha sister
unique. We are excited to ex
tend the Theta Phi Alpha fam
ily to them. We encourage you
to think about what you can
bring to the sisterhood and con
tact one of us if you are inter
ested in becoming a part of the
Theta Phi Alpha family.
The Diehl students are tutored in
all subjects.
"It's a great opportunity to help
underprivileged children," said
McNeil.
McNeil is always looking for
new tutors. If interested please
contact him at
diehlschool@hotmail.com
According to Kaylor and
McNeil, sergeant at arms, Michael
James On, recently traveled to
Aspen, Colorado to compete at
the Winter X Games Qualifier.
On threw down an excellent run
in slope style, stomping the infa
mous cab 900. Orr narrowly
missed moving on to the finals by
three points. He placed eighth
overall.
"Orr can definitely throw down
the slopes," said Kaylor, "He's
definitely the best boarder at
Behrend."
Recently the brothers acquired
their beloved mascot, Bowser, a
mix of rottweiler and black Lab.
Bowser plays an integral part of
strengthening the bonds between
man and dog.
