Lions scramble after the loose ball as they fell to Westminster in the championship round of the Behrend Tournament. Next up for the Lions is big rival Pitt-Bradford at 6 p.m. Saturday. by John Peebles staff writer The men's basketball team is off to a promising start. They began the season quickly jumping out to a 2-0 record with two straight victories at home in their own tournament. They then went on to visit Grove City over the Thanksgiving break where, last season, they defeated the Wolverines in a close game, 56-53. This time they were not as fortunate. The Lions lost the game 82-58, falling to a 2-1 record. When asked about the loss, Dave Hairston said, "This year at Grove City we just didn't have the intensity on the boards and the defensive end that we needed. They're a tough team, very similar to us, but we came out a little flat and didn't play the type of ball we're used to playing." Another early bright point is the lions are already getting some time and contributions from some of their freshmen. This is something they will need if they wish to compete with the other teams in the league and have a successful season.
