Fairview/Fairview, PA Corry/Corry, PA Upper St. Clair/Pittsburgh, PA The men's soccer team had overcome harsh weather conditions and a tough Altoona squad to advance to the AMCC finals against Pitt- Greensburg. They defeated Altoona in a shootout session, 3-2, that junior goalkeeper Jake Hordych described as "the most emotional game i've ever been a part of in his career." The Lions had overcome a very horendous start to end up in this position. However, last Friday the team had to travel to Pitt-Greensburg, what had only been defeated once this season. The team battled with all it had, but fell just short in a 2-1 overtime loss. In the end, Greensburg was just too much for Behrend to handle. Senior defenseman Matt MacArthur felt a certain amount of satisfaction as he ended his tenure on the team. "This was a tough, physical game, but I was happy that we could make it this far this season, said MacArthur. "This was a great group of guys that I played with this year, and I had fun." The Lions are disappointed about the final outcome, but cannot be disappointed with their effort in this game. They played with a very tough team and lost by just a single goal. MacArthur will not be returning next year, but he feels that the team has much to look forward to. "The team was very strong for having an end this many freshmen, but they will continue to be strong next season as players will mature and get better," said MacArthur. "I just wish I could keep playin,."added MacArthur. Having such a young team will bring experience to the team next year. These young players went through many lows, as well as highs during the season. They started the season 1-6-2 through the first nine games and finished it with a record of 8-10-4. The season came to a disappointing culmination last Friday, however the Blue and White have nothing to be ashamed of. They went from a team in ruins to within one point of winning the AMCC championship.
