how disappointing for those of you
who actually cared.
The football critics, all week,
laughed every time they heard the
names of the Titans and Rams asso
ciated with the greatest sporting
event of the year, Super Bowl
XXXIV. And once again, we heard
the overused line of, "oh, I hope the
commercials are good," as if some
know-it-all football "fan" thought
they were cracking a joke no one ever
heard before. And while they waited
to he entertained by a bunch of lame
computer corporate guys that think
stupidity equals laughter, I found the

All week leading up to the Super

give me something to blast those crit

would give true football fans some
thing to remember. So when the first
half was highlighted by mistakes and

ing this Super Bowl might not be jus
tifiably right. A 16-0 deficit further
hurt my cause, turning the game from
a low scoring battle to a potential
blowout.
And it was then, when fans began
to criticize the biggest spectacle in
sports, that the Tennessee Titans de
cided to explode. The methodical
fourth quarter comeback not only put
the game in a 16-16 tie with only min
utes remaining, but began to give fans
a sense that this could be one of those
classic Super Bowl moments.
The Rams took full advantage of
the moment as Kurt Warner ended his
dream season with a 74-yard strike
to Isaac Bruce to take a seven-point
lead. The play seemed so symbolic
for the way the Rams had turned their
franchise around. The entire concept

Champs in the blink of an eye. And
in the blink of an eye, they would
end the Titans' hopes with a play
they ran more often than Mark
McGwire hits homeruns.
With that pass, Warner went from
being remembered as a supermarket
stock boy to a Super Bowl hero,
throwing for nearly 100 more yards
than any quarterback ever has in Su
per Bowl history. That includes
names such as Bart Starr, Joe
Namath, Troy Aikman and even Joe
Montana.
But the best of Super Bowl
XXXIV had yet to come. It wasn't
Warner's heroic end to a dream sea
son or the Titans' final march down
the field that wili be played in high
light reels for years to come. It was
the final play. The perfect pass from
Steve McNair to Kevin Dyson and
the stretch to the endzone. The Ti-
