A wonderful question was brought up by a student at the December Ist SGA meeting: how are the E-Board's "stipends" distrib uted? The concern was that the stipends were paid out to the students directly, when in fact they are applied directly to tuition. All SGA sti pends are a direct reduction of the student's in-state tuition, regardless of their in-state or out-of-state status. The SGA president receives a half tuition reduction, the vice president a quarter-tuition reduction, and the treasurer one third. Many other colleges and universities issue stipends to SGA board members. The idea is to make the positions a serious job, of which substantial work is expected. *Technology/Transportation Fee Committee : We have recently acquired a third Ti internet connection, and are hopeful for a T 3 by next year. That means that faster connections are in the works. We are planning an important meeting at the end of finals week, and would like to have "rep resentatives" from each college there (Science, Engineering, Business and Humanities). In the past, we have had a lot of business majors and not enough of everything else. If you are interested in voicing the computer/ technology needs of the people in your college, please call Melody Sherosky in the SGA office. *Two Open Senate Seats: We currently have two student government senate seats open. If you are interested in becoming an SGA senator, call the SGA office, or stop in to read the constitution; senators are required to have office hours (two) and be on at least one committee. They also must be able to attend SGA meetings every Wednesday at 5:20p.m. *More Freshman Senators: Student Government is considering adding one freshman senate seat. Currently, two freshman senators are elected every year. If you have comments or concerns with the possibility of an additional freshman seat, give us a call! *What Should Be Funded? At a recent meeting we discussed what stu dents want to have funded by the Student Activities Fee. SGA needs your input! What would you like to see funded here at Behrend? Our feed back so far has told us that most students would like more large events, like concerts. The SGA office is located in the Reed Building, next to the backroom, and meetings are held every Wednesday at 5:20p.m. in Reed 114. Drop by the office with any concerns, questions or ideas. 13 Mon • Final Exams • Commuter Council Free Cookies and Coffee—Reed Lobby, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. 17 Fri • Final Exams
