Scotty’s is a classy little bar by Roger Burlingame staff witer Last Friday, 1 had an opportunity to visit Erie’s newest bar, Scotty’s. Although this bar is not located in one of the nicest sections of town, (on the comer of 3rd and German) its classy atmosphere more than makes up for the location. I don’t think you could have anything but a good time at this wonderful little bar. As you walk into Scotty’s, the first thing that will draw your attention is the music. Jazz is played from open to close, whether it’s a live band or a CD, jazz music is the constant at Scotty's. From Thelonius Monk to Squirrel Nut Zipper, old and new, they have it all. The atmosphere is very cozy, but the seating is limited and at the most you could probably only cram 60 people into the entire bar. On weekdays, it is relatively easy to find a seat, but last Friday, if you weren’t in the door by ten. I’m not sure you could have squeezed in. The only bartenders are the owner (Scotty) and three or four very beautiful ladies. When 1 asked Scotty about being the only male bartender, he claimed it was purely coincidence. The service is excellent, personable and speedy. The beer selection is not extravagant, but you will be able to find something you like. The liquor selection, however. comedy hit. There's Something About Man’. The plot, or remnants of one, centered around Spade’s neighbor's dog; a Scottish terrier who had incredibly too much screen time lor a canine. Spade tried to get to know his pretty neighbor by chasing her dog every time it ran away. She played a cello and soon her old boyfriend from Paris arrived. He proved to be the toil to Spade. The specialty at Scotty's is the martini in all its glory, from chocolate martinis to cosmopolitans. They do it all, and believe me they do it right. If you ask me, it’s about time someone opened a classy jazz bar in Erie and Scotty has done just that. If you appreciate good drinks and good jazz I urge you to check out Scotty s. be lost at sea! lethargic slacker. The movie seemed to just be a carbon copy of the usual teen-flick that Hollywood churns out like corporate pizza. It was more predictable than an episode of Walker. Texas Ranger and only ottered a few mild laughs. I found myself falling asleep halfway through the movie, and only stayed awake because I had a bag ol gummy bears in my pocket. The movie was more relaxing than a bottle of NyQuil. The positive points were that the movie ended and I don't have to sec it again. I begrudgingly give it one star. a Star Wars fan? you have what Features Have summer! in the fall!
