The Lions then took their 2-1 record
into their Winter Classic held in Erie
Hall on December 4 and 5, where they
took third place. Behrend faced off with
Grove City in the opening round of the
tournament.
The Behrend women struggled
shooting in the first half, going 7 for 27
from the field as Grove City jumped to
an early lead. However, strong free
throw shooting from the Lions and a
half court desperation shot by Nestor
at the buzzer kept the Lady Lions in the
game. Behrend trailed only by three,
30-27, at the half.

The Lions kept up the intensity in the
second half behind the strong inside
play of Phillips and Jen O’Lare who
finished with 13 and 15 points,
respectively. However, Grove City was
able to hit big shots down the stretch
by Jackie Becker and Karin
Hendrickson, who combined for 30
points, to give Grove City the 61-54
win.
Behrend would then face Albright in
the consolation game on Saturday after
Albright bowed out to Wilmington in
the 6:00 game on Friday night. The
game would have Behrend head coach
Roz Fornari coach her former player
and now Albright head coach Anne
Bonner.
Fornari’s Lions trailed at the half
despite shooting 52% from the field.
Albright applied strong pressure to the
Lions throughout the game, forcing 30
Behrend turnovers. Albright led at the
half, 38-34.
However, it was the Behrend Lions
