It always comes at the end of the
Spring semester. Traditionally it is one
of the most anticipated events on cam
pus. No, it’s not finals week. It’s the
Battle of the Bands. This year, the
event has a new format and a new
name. The campus will be overcome
by “Spring Fever” on Friday, April 24
at 3:oopm.
This year the event will differ from
the past in that no longer will there
be a competition between local bands.
This year the music will be provided
by Pittsburgh rockers The Ike McCoy
Band, Bitter Delores, Nixon Clocks,
and Erie’s own 70’s tribute band,
Reunion. In between acts, local radio
station, Rocket 101, will rock the
apartment quad.
Spring Fever/ZYR is more than
music. Vendors will be on hand sell
ing items such as jewelry, candles and
clothing. Student organizations will
also take part in the event by setting

up a variety of booths. Free refresh
ments have been donated by Housing
and Food Services. Matt Boarts, 07
Communication, is one of the orga
nizers of the event. “We are trying to
create a festival type atmosphere. It
should be a blast,” Boarts said.
The live music will begin at s:oopm
and last until midnight. Dawn Holzer,
06 Accounting, also organized the
event. She said that, “Every year,
Battle of the Bands has been great,
but this year Spring Fever goes above
and beyond.” Boarts agreed adding,
“We have some great bands this year.
Everyone should check this out.”
This year, as in the past, the event
is being sponsored by the Panhellenic
