Events The Feminist Scholar Speaker Series will continue with "The New Spain, The New Woman," a presentation by Dr. Alda Blanco, director of Latin American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reed Lecture Hall. Music at Noon: The Logan Wintergarden Series continues Friday, March 20 with a lunchtime perfor mance by The Crosstown Trio, an eclectic ensemble that includes elec tric guitar, classical guitar, and flute. The performance is free and open to the public, and guests are invited to bring a brown-bag lunch and enjoy the" music in the Sun-dappled Reed Wintergarden. March 18 at 7:30 p.m. His presentation, which takes place in the Reed Com mons, is free and open to the public. Rosa Luxemburg was a woman before her time. As a German socialist leader and revolutionary in the early 20th Century her activities earned her a place in the history hooks. She was imprisoned, arrested, and murdered by the pre-Nazi system of Germany. By others she was hailed as a hero ine. Rosa Luxemburg's exciting life is chronicled in the movie "Rosa Lux emburg" written and directed by Margarethe Von Trotta. "Rosa Lux emburg" will be shown in the Reed Lecture Hall on Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m. Look for other films this month sponsored by the Women's Film Series. This spring the theatre students at Behrend will step out of the intimate Studio Theatre and into the Reed Building Commons for The Pirates of Penzance, a musical comedy that is a major change of pace from previ ous presentations. The production is set for 8:00 p.m. on March 26, 27,28, and 29 and at 2:30 p.m. on March 29. The major players include junior Geoffrey Pieper of Lake City, cast as the over-protective patriarch, Major General Stanley: senior R.J. Frelin of Nev, Galilee, Pa., as the Pirate King; junior Michael Lechner of Erie as Frederic, the pirate apprentice who is "the slav e of duty"; sophomore Daryl Dambaugh of Slippery Rock as the Seargeant of Police; freshman Gretchen Foust of Sugar Grove as Mabel, General Stanley's youngest daughter: and sophomore Lisa Perrette of Branchburg, N.J., as an other of the Major General's daugh ters, Kate. Additional cast members serve as a chorus of General Stanley's other daughters, pirates. and police men.
