Two victories over Mercyhurst Northeast powered the Lions to a 5- 3 fall record. "This has been a very good fall season," said Coach Paul Benim. "Our goals of evaluating personnel and getting the players to understand our program's philosophies have been met." Skins I by Sean Yarnell Collegian Staff The men's soccer team continued to win matches this week, racking up two more impressive victories. Wednesday's match saw the Lions pulling out a 1-0 victory over Carnegie Mellon. Aaron Pentz scored off of a pass from freshman Josh Castillo to power Behrend to their ninth win of the year. The victory was the Lions' third in a row and came against a tough opponant. "Carnegie Mellon was ranked eighth in our ECAC region. so this was a huge win for us." said captain Travis Lang. Goalie Graham Rudolph registered his second consecutive shutout during the Lions win. The Behrend men's soccer team also played over the weekend at Oberlin . The Lions came away with a 2-0 victory. Freshman Chris Lightner netted both goals for the Lions, during the second half of play. Another freshman Josh Castillo assisted on both goals. Behrend out shot Oberlin by a 10-4 margin with Graham Rudolph recording the shutout for the Lions. "We played hard and made good judgements. We are ready for a good weekend of play." said Coach Dan Perritano. The Lions will be facing Laßoche and Frostburg State in two crucial AMCC conference games this homecoming weeekend. Senior Erin McCormick had quite an impressive week for the Penn State - Behrend women's volleyball team, to earn the Housing and Food Service Athlete of the Week Honors. McCormick, a senior from Trinity High in Washington, played a very key role in leading the Lady Spikers to their forth straight conference victory, and also pacing the Lions to their second place finish in their home tournament. She led the team in kills, 3 out of 5 matches in the week. "Erin has been a real big leader for us," said head coach Cindy Jacobelli. "She has been hitting the ball the best I have ever seen her hit it," she added. McCormick and the rest of the Lady Spikers will next return to action this Saturday when they travel to play against both Washington & Jefferson and Pitt - Bradford.
