Robert Farrell, associate professor of engineering and head of the plastics technology program, along with his wife, Linda Farrell, a staff assistant in the Ben Franklin Technology Center on the Penn State-Behrend campus, said they hope this scholarship will encourage other young people who have the same spark and the same potential that Corey had. "My wife and I decided (to endow this scholarship) because my son was headed in the direction of wanting to take up writing as a career. He had a natural talent for writing. He was very creative," said Robert Farrell. The Farrell's were honored for their generosity with a luncheon on Dec. 2, 1996, with officials of the College and members of the creative writing faculty in attendance. Provost and Dean John Lilley presented the Farrell's with a certificate of appreciation in memory "My wife and I decided (to endow this scholarship) because my son was headed in the direction of wanting to take up writing as a career.
