Got plans for next weekend?
Well, everyone does now!
Students and their families are
invited to the 1996 Parents &
Families Weekend Oct. 4 -6.
This Penn State - Behrend
tradition combines Homecoming
and three days of activities in an
effort to create a weekend where
parents, families' and alumni can
return and celebrate what it is to
be Behrend, said Chris Rizzo,
Director of Student Activities
about October’s Parents &
Families Weekend.
People could be in a chariot
race, winning a point in
volleyball or soccer, or even
participating in an eating fest. . .

art plastics labs, some that are
unparalleled around the country.
The complex is comprised of
four different buildings named the
James O. Benson building, the
Joseph J, Prischak building, the
R.J. Fasenmyer building and the
Wilkowski building that are all
connected by the Roche Hall.
Outside of the complex, there
is a courtyard called the Loranger
Plaza.
In addition to the plastics labs,
there are many computer labs that
support the research and learning
that are necessary to flourish in
the Engineering world.
A highlight of the complex is
the Plastics Technology
Deployment Center.
It has been in operation for
three years and is a combined
partnership between Behrend and
the Clevland Advanced
Manufacturing Program.
This partnership has already
had a 14 million dollar impact on
the technology of western
Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio in
its three short years.
Most of the contributors were
local manufactures who really
wanted to make a difference and
saw that by donating to this
cause they could be helping their
industry greatly.
The over all theme of the
ceremony was "industry and

and friends come to Behrend to
celebrate "college life."
Behrend began its life back in
1948 and still strives today on its
700+ acres. Enrollment over the
years has exceeded 3200 and
continues to grow. Homecoming
weekend is full of entertainment,
when both new students and old
students can get a chance to hear
what Behrend was like many
years ago.
Festivities begin Friday
