Thursday, November 16, 1995 Hispanic Heritage Month concludes with Cultural Week Variety of cultures to be celebrated in Cultural Week BEHREND-As Hispanic Heritage Month concludes, Behrend will celebrate Cultural Week from November 27 through December 2. Cultural Week will highlight an array of cultures through events sponsored by the Multi-Cultural Council, its associates and the Office of Student Affairs. “Celebrating our differences will encourage students to be proud of their heritages,” said Chris Alvarez, MCC secretary. “Special events like Cultural Week develop understanding and acceptance among all cultures and backgrounds,” added Lourdes Tirado, president of MCC. The kick-off celebration begins with an art show featuring African and Hispanic art sponsored by MCC in the Wintergarden on Monday, November 27 from noon to 3 p.m. Guests can also sample different “soul” food. Latino specialties and sweet delights. On Tuesday, November 28, Trigon sponsors gay comedian Mike Rasky in Reed 117 at 7 p.m. Women Today will sponsor a UNLIMITED RESTROOM USE coffee house featuring readings by local poets on Wednesday, November 29 beginning at noon in the MCC Resource Room in the Reed Union Building. To celebrate the blessings of the season, a Kwanzaa Dinner sponsored by the Association of Black Collegians will be held Wednesday evening in the Reed Commons beginning at 6 p.m. Reservations are requested. Back by popular demand will be a special production of “A House on Mango Street,” on Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m. in the Studio Theater. The Organization of Latin American Students is sponsoring the performance. For Friday, December 1, Daddy’s World will discuss homophobia beginning at 9 p.m. ' ocation to be announced. MCC will hold a holiday carnival featuring food, fun and children from the Erie community on Saturday, December 2 from 11:30 to 3 p.m. in the Reed Commons. All events are free and open to the public. YESTERDA Y's TKE raises money for the hungry BEHREND-Rain, snow, sleet or hail will not prevent members of Tau Kappa Epsilon’s chapter at Behrend, from sponsoring the annual 100-mile Barrel Roll Run at Presque Isle on Friday, November 17 beginning at 9 p.m. in visitor lot no. 2. Funds raised through pledges will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
