Bryan Harkins CoUtgian Stag Last Saturday, the Behrend mens soccer team was trounced by St John Fisher College 5-1. Hie Lions got off to a bad start giving up three unanswered goals in the first half. Women looking for some respect by Chad Clouse Collegia* Staff The womens tennis team at Behrend has over the last three years retained a winning record on the court However they lack the fanfare of the Other sports at Behrend. The team consists of seven young women, two seniors, four sophomores, and two freshmen. Of these, only three are returning from last year. In a conversation with Rhonda Dennison and Melissa Barger, who are co-captains for the team, they expressed their concerns about the team. "We’d like to be in a conference. Right now we're only in division three and we'd like to compete for a title," said Barger. Head coach Dan Perritano’s reason for the team's current lack of success is that, "We are [normally] a team that defends well and we'ie not defending well. We are making mental mistakes in tei individual teams. "We play teams that really really bad or teams that are really really good. There's no competition. We never have a score that's five to four," added Dennison. Being in a conference would eliminate this problem and let the team travel out of the immediate area for games. The two co-captains were very upset about the lack of exposure for the team. "People don't come and watch us play. We've had a winning record for the last three years and 5ti11..." said Dennison. "It gets discouraging after a while," added Barger. This hurts the team. I think you'll get some opportunities to see some good soccer." The team's next home game is this Saturday against Keuka College. Game time is 3:00 p.m. discouraged.
