The men’s soccer team suffered
a defeat, 5-0, on Saturday against
Carnegie Mellon. Its record now
stands at 6-7-2.
“We played an outstanding
team. I know they will be going
to the N.C. tournament. We did
play well in the second half,” said
Coach Dan Perritano.
Sean Blank said, “We played a
much better team. During the
second half we stepped up and
held them to one goal. The first
half was difficult but we pulled
together the second half.”
“1 really don’t know what to
say. I think that we showed a lot
of heart. We played a better team
and we knew that going into the
game. We didn’t give up when
they scored and we played
physical,” said Andy Laffcrty.
David Harrison said, “It was a
rough game; we were out
matched. We never gave up and
we continued to play.”
Ryan Ruta summed up the loss
to Carnegie Mellon by saying, “I
guess they were a more technical
team. The second half we came
out and played harder and more
physical. We gave them a game
the second half and we proved a
lot to ourselves that half.”
The next game is Saturday at
Mount Union. On Wednesday,
October 26 the Lions will take
on Slippery Rock at home.

Lady Lions keep
streak alive with 2-0
defeat of Hilbert

Collegian Staff
The Penn State-Behrend
women’s club soccer team
continued its winning ways on
Tuesday afternoon. This time
Hilbert College was the victim,
as the Lady Lions posted a final
score of 2-0.
This was a soccer game with a
twist as Hilbert College brought
eight players to Behrend for the
contest A usual match requires
each team to have eleven players
on the field at one time.
“It was very unfortunate that
we had to play under these
circumstances,” said Head Coach
RkkNese.
Behrend made the adjustment
and matched its counterparts by
also playing with eight players
on the field. Although the pace
of the game was slower, the
College
outcome was no different as
Behrend won its fifth game in
five tries.
“It wasn’t one of the prettiest
matches but we stuck it out, and
got the win,” said Nese.

Halfback Missy Obmann also
picked up her sixth goal on the
year. She added an insurance goal
on a penalty kick in the second
half to make the Behrend lead 2-
0. The penalty kick was the
result of a hand ball violation in
the goal box by a Hilbert
defender.
