Behrend Briefs
Career Night: will be on Thursday, March 24 in the Behrend Memorial Room from
7-8:30 p.m. Speakers will address topics including radio, management and sales. All
majors are welcome.
Bookstore Hours: The bookstore will be closed on Saturday, April 2. Inventory
closings are tentatively scheduled for either Friday or Saturday, April 29 or 30.
Study Skills Series: A workshop titled "Improving Reading Rate and
Comprehension—Part 2” on Monday, March 21 from 5-6 p.m. in Academic 55.
1993-94 Women's Musk Series: The Eaken Piano Trio will be performing on
Tuesday, March 22 at 8 p.m. in Reed Lecture Hall.
Career Development Series: The workshop "Job Interviewing Skills Workshop"
will be repeated on Thursday, March 24 at 5 p.m. in the Reed Conference Room.
Teaching Award Nominations: Forms to nominate professors for the Behrend
College Council of Fellows Excellence in Teaching Award must be submitted to the
ofike of the Provost and Dean by Friday, April 1. The forms are available in the
library, the Office of Student Services, the academic unit offices, and the Office of the
Provost and Dean.
"Rewriting the History of Fenriaism"; is the title of the lecture by Dr. Joan
W. Scott to be held tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Reed Lecture Hall. Scott is a professor
of social science at Princeton University's Institute for Advanced Study.
Truman Scholarship Meeting: Freshmen and sophomores with 3.0+ GPA can
find out more about the Truman Scholarship and other national competitions for
awards, fellowships and summer study, or internship opportunities. Information
meetings will be conducted today at 4 p.m. and tomorrow at noon in the Memorial
Room, Glenhill Farmhouse.
University Scholar Nominations: Sophomores with high academic capabilities
may be nominated to join the University Scholars Program in order to participate in
honors study as juniors and seniors and to earn a Penn Stole honors degree.
Eco-Actioa Meeting: Let your voice be heard at the Eco-Action meeting tonight
at 9 p.m. in the Perry Hall Lobby.

A non-student was injured while cross country skiing on campus. The male
refused medical treatment
Friday, March 4
A vehicle parked in a spot reserved for faculty/staff on a 24 how a day, 7 day a
week basis behind Niagara Hall was issued a state citation and towed from
campus.
Monday, March 7
University employees discovered an elderly laity, who lives on Jordan Road, had
fallen in her driveway. The lady was transported to a local hospital by
Brookside Fire Company.
Wednesday, March 9
A student reported a suspicious vehicle in the apartment parking lot
Investigation revealed that the two occupants were friends waking for a friend to
return.
Monday, March 14
A smell of smoke in the Library/Academic Building was reported. Investigation
revealed this to have been caused by a motor for the ventilation system
overheating.

Police Report
A student reported Finding paint chips off the door of her rental car while parked
in the Nick lot.
A resident student reported being harassed. This is currently under investigation.
A bicycle that had been padlocked to the railing of the main entrance to the
Behrend Building was impounded for violation of University regulation SY-16
(bicycle regulations) prohibiting bicycles from being left at building entrances.
A vehicle parked in a spot reserved far faculty/staff on a 24 hour a day, 7 days a
week basis in F-lot was issued a state citation and towed from campus.
Officers discovered that entry had been made in an old farmhouse owned by the
University, but not in use. The house was checked but no one was found inside,
nor was any damage discovered. This is under investigation. \
