For the first time in the
history of this award, the Athlete
of the Week goes to a team.
The Belwend's women's tennis
team concluded its second
consecutive winning season with
a mark of 9-7.
'They got the most out of the
talent they have," said Head
Catch Dim Gallegos. "They're a
pleasure to work with."
The netters started off the
season by winning six of their
first seven matches. After
dropping their next two matches,
the team regrouped to defeat
Jen Colvin/Collegian Photographer
Waynesburg and Washington and
Jefferson. The Netters collected
their record setting ninth victory
against Buffalo State.
Although their season is over,
the team still has matches to
play over spring break.
The ladies will play in both
the North-South Classic and the
Dixie Classic, which are held in
Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The ladies truly learned that it
is more important to be a lamp
post in New York City than the
mayor of Erie," said Gallegos.
He continued, "Basically it's
more important to contribute to
a large effort than to be a star in
a small effort."
