Cocaine replacement?
condensed from Brain Work
Scientists at the National Institute for Drug Abuse
(NIDA) report that they have created a substance that may
lead the way to cocaine substitutes for addiction
rehabilitation. The purpose of this research, according to
Theresa Kopajtic, was to create substances similar to
cocaine, called analogues, used to study cocaine effects on
the brain. This new substance is similar to methadone,
which is currently being used to replace heroin in drug
addiction rehabilitation.
