Revival of
the ASO
by April M. Bogdanski
Collegian Staff
This year at Behrend, the
Asian Student Organization has
been revived.
The Asian Student Organiza
tion was implemented to
increase student body awareness
of Asian cultures. It is not only
open for Asian cultures, but all
other cultures as well. There are
presently about 25 to 30 Asian
students interested.
ASO makes it easier for
Asian students to get together
and socialize, and to speak
what's on their mind. Some
objectives of the ASO include
furthering members' academic
skills, taking part in activities
such as skiing, expressing their
culture, enlightening other
students about the Asian
background, and adapting to life
here at Behrend.
Members of the ASO help
each other with things such as
their major, or getting through
any red tape at school.
ASO is deeply involved with
activities. They are involved in
numerous activities with the
Association of Black Collegians
(ABC). Speakers come to talk
about various majors to help
students learn more about their
major. There will also be
multi-cultural festivals in
March.
"The main objective of the
Asian Student Organization is
to make the campus notice that
we are a different culture," said
Danny Chun, President of ASO.
"A lot of people aren't aware
of the various cultures that
exist," said Gerald Spates, one
of the advisors of ASO "The
Asian Student Organization
wants to promote awareness and
pride in Asian culture."

lot of fun things going on,"
said Anderson.
The event kicks off Friday
evening with a private
reception and viewing. Blue
grass and folk music will be
provided by Misery Bay and the
Dulcimer Club, who may also
perform throughout the
wedr.end.

Police Re
Towed Vehicles
Police & Safety were called on three separate occasions to tow
vehicles parked illegally. The vehicles were towed by Tim Martin
and the owners were issued commonwealth citations.
On two occasions police called tow trucks to remove illegally
parked vehicles from campus.
Bad Cheeks
Several checks were turned over to this department by the
bookstore that were returned, not sufficient funds. Five of the
checks were taken care of by the owners. Three of the, checks were
not taken care of in the time allowed and non-traffic citations were
filed by this office for bad checks.
Medical Assist
On March 19 a student called this office stating she was not feeling
well. The student was escorted to the Health Center by the officer
on duty.
Driving Under the Influence
On March 5 a student was stopped on campus for parking in a
restricted area. The student had the odor of alcohol on her breath
and failed the BAC and field sobriety tests and was placed under
arrest. The student was warned that her operating privileges would
be suspended for one year and chargers were filed before District
Justice Nakoski for driving under the influence of alcohol.
On March 20 a vehicle was observed leaving campus at an unsafe
speed and running the stop sign at the apartment lot. The vehicle
was stopped and the driver had an odor of alcohol on her breath.
She was given a field sobriety test and failed. She was placed under
arrest and transported to P.S.P. for an intoxilyzer test. Charges
were filed for driving under the influence of alcohol,
