Lady Lions hope
to return to
postseason play

"It was the best of times, it
was the worst of times." This
famous Dicken's quote would
accurately reflect the Lady Lions'
week.
First, they took on a
Waynesburg team that had
defeated Behrend twice on the mad
by an average of only six points.
In order to keep their NCAA
hopes alive, they needed this
home victory.
The Lions went out and
dominated, 80-66. Coach
Jenepher Banker saw this as an,
"all-out emotional and physical
effort".
Coming into Saturday's
encounter with Washington and
Jefferson, the Lady Lions were
16-6. The Lady Presidents were
hoping to complete a two game
sweep of Behrend with a home
victory.
As a result of an apparent
"breakdown" in their play,
Banker's squad got beaten 83-72.
Banker believes that the Lady
Lions may have "used up all of
their emotions and momentum"
against Waynesburg.
W&J's 6'3" center, Trina
Seller's 12 points and 14
rebounds were a major factor.
For the Lady Lions, Becky
Swartz's game high 21 points
kept Behrend in the game until
the end.

The loss has all but ended
Behrend's quest for an NCAA bid,
so now attention will be shifted
to pulling out a respectable
ECAC bid.
With two games remaining,
the Lady Lions must remain
focused on each oppenent or they
may lose the momentum that
this season has built.

"I just want to give 110
percent. I will give it my all and
nothing less."
That is the most popular quote
used by athletes today.
Unfortunately in today's world
where high paid, low producing
athletes run rampant, they do not
always back up their words with
effort.
This week's Athlete of the
Week is a rare example of an
athlete who does give an all-out
effort all of the time. Lady Lion's
captain and starting point guard
Wendy Ebinger is the rare
example.
Ebinger is averaging 8.7 points
per game, 4.4 rebounds per game
and has dished out a team leading

95 assists so far this season.
Most importantly, Ebinger is
leading the team with her
ferocious determination and
hustle.
Assistant Coach Paul Benim
said, "She puts everything she
has into every game. She leads
the team by example, and is not
afraid to take charge. You can
always count on her performing
to the best of her ability every
night."
Ebinger enjoys her role as
captain, "I've been a leader on the
court since seventh grade. My
position (point guard) demands
some leading, I need to control
the ball and set up play."
Ebinger has committed only 53
turnovers this season compared to
