Approx- imate time will be 9:45a.m. The *‘crash’ will involve three cars, 8 to 10 patients, Friendship Fire Company No. 1 and Rheems and Hempfield ambulances. One car will have a small fire in it. Several victims will be trapped. Hopefully, the public will turn out to sce the Hurst Tool (known as the Jaws of Life) in action. Mayor James Gingrich will be one of the ‘‘vic- tims’, as well as two police officers, four ambulance crew members and two Boy Scouts. Drop tones will be hit to announce the drill, but the siren will not be activated. On Saturday, October 2 from 1 p.m. to S p.m. local fire chiefs will be in the Friendship Fire Co. station judging posters made by students from Seiler and Elmtree Elementary Schools (grades 1 - 6). The theme of the posters is “Learn Not To Burn.” The judges will be Chief Bern- theizel of Manheim, Chief Witmer of Salunga, Chief Hoffer of Mastersonville, Chief Johns of Maytown, Chief Geltmacher of Florin. The poster contest win- ners will be announced next Monday. Winning posters will be placed in store windows in the Mount Joy business dis- trict. Next Tuesday, the fire- men will visit Seiler Ele- mentary School to super- vise fire drills, give tours of the truck, show films and discuss fire prevention. They will also visit Elm- tree Elementary School on Wednesday, October 6, and W.l. Beahm Junior High School on Friday, October 2 ‘Old Hom children; Emma, William, Jr., Ruth and Grant (now Rev. Other activities planned tor fire prevention week arc: a special early drill on Monday, October 4; bingo at the firehouse at 7:30p.m. on Wednesday, October 6; display of fire apparatus and ambulance in front of Hostetter's Hardware Store on Friday, October 8, from 6 to 8:30 p.m.; an open house at the firehouse from 9 to 2 p.m. on October 9; and a demonstration of the Hurst Tool at 2 p.m. in Elizabethtown on Sunday, October 10. On Thursday, October 7, at the monthly meeting of the Friendship Fire Com- pany, poster winners will be present before the meeting to tour the facili- ties with their parents. Prizes will be awarded to poster winners before the meeting. First prize is a $25.00 bond, second prize is $10.00, and there will be honorable mention awards. Harry Zuchs celebrate 62nd wedding anniversary on Friday Mr. and Mrs. Harry Zuch, 200 East Market Street, Marietta, quietly celebrated their 62nd wed- ding anniversary on Friday, September 24th. They were married in Detroit, MI in the Lutheran Church in 1914. The couple have three sons: Frank, San Fernando, CA; Rev. Robert T. Zuch, Easton; and Charles T., Clear Water, FL. There are twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Zuch is a life mem- ber of the Pioneer Fire Company. He served as Superintendent of the Lutheran Sunday School for 16 years. Originally an iron molder by trade, he worked on the railroad, at Lavina Furnace and as an insurance agent. Harry was Justice of the Peace for six years and secretary-treasurer of the Marietta Cemetery. The Zuchs are members of the Zion Lutheran Church and the Marietta Senior League. Mrs. Zuch, the former Lucy Tompson, is a life member of the Marietta Auxiliary of the Columbia Hospital, the Eastern Star, Lancaster County Historical Society, and Donegal Soci- ety.
