Pulakos today issued guide- lines explaining who is eligible for the reduced fee. To be eligible a person must: Be retired and receiving Social Security or other pension. Part-time work is permitted. Total income from all sources, including Social Security, pension, part-time work, interest and dividends must not exceed $7,500. Income is based on antici- pated income for the present | year. If only one spouse of a married couple qualifies, the discount registered ve- hicle must be registered in his or her name. If both spouses qualify, they may register a vehicle at the reduced rate. If the vehicle is jointly owned, (titled in both names), total income of the couple must not exceed $7,500. Only one vehicle weighing less than 9,000 pounds including cars, station wag- ons and light trucks may be registered at the discount rate. Retired persons are not exempt from normal title and transfer fees. There is ne minimum age requirement. Persons wishing to regis- ter a vehicle at the reduced fee should get an application from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, fill it out, sign it and return it along with their regular registration renewal application to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. A check for $10 instead of the regular fee should be enclosed. Applications for the re- duced fee are available at the Philadelphia branch office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Roosevelt Blvd. and Scuthhampton Rd., at the Pittsburgh office, ) 300 Liberty Ave., or by writing: Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Harrisburg, Pa., 17122. If you have already sent in your total fee of $24 for the current registration period, you apply for the refund as follows: fill out the MV371 and mark it REFUND, then include a copy of your canceled check both front and back or a copy of the custemer’s receipt from you money order. Harrisburg, PA 17120 Verna Brandt, R.N., retires Three employees at the Elizabethtown Hospital for Children and Youth recently retired after long years of service to the Common- wealth. Miss Verna Brandt, R.N., Mount Joy, came to the Hospital as staff nurse in November, 1941. She left in July, 1945 to seek more education in the' nursing field and returned again in 1956. Miss Brandt was appoint- ed Director of Nursing Education in 1960, the position she held at retire- ment. L. Grissinger con Dean’s list Linda Carol Grissinger, 204 Park Avenue, Mount Joy, was named to the Dean's List for high aca- demic achievement at Ship- pensburg State College for the fall semester, it was announced by Erik Shaar, vice-president for academic affairs. Kohler, Jr. of Mount Joy, is one of 25 high school students from seven states selected by Dr. Frederick P. Sample, president of Leba- non Valley College, as a presidential scholar. Students who are selected will receive %, 2 or % scholarships on the basis of a competitive examination, which was held at the college in November. A senior in Donegal High School, Kohler is a member of the National Honor Society, chorus president and drama club vice presi- dent. While a student at the high school he has played roles in Brigadeon and Camelot.
