Since the railroad brings city peo- pie to Dushkill they wear a pleas- Anter smile. The long, hard ride of 13 miles from 8troudsbur& formerly tired them out. The Donaldson family having gone to Europe, the golf links at Ardtornish are now open to the use of city guests. Quinsy aore throat has been quite prevalent iu this section. D. E. Van Etten agent for the Prudential insurance oompany, is doing a very remunerative business. M. C. Sliafer loads evory one here raising early potatoes. We heard with pleasure that C. Olivet Bensley is the first in this seotion to oat his grain. Adam Campbell had. the mHfor- tune recontly to lose one of his team horses. Potatoes and oats are very prom ising at present. The tide ot trade in this section is turning to Stroudsburg. The easy Recess to that town over a splendid road to Bush kill and then a fine ride on the cars brings this formerly isolated part of th world in close contact with our neighbors. We will oorae to the front now with a rush that will make the Heads of some people swim. Garden products are plenti ful and the mosquitoes are also a generous crop. PAUPAC. The fireworks at B. F. Killam's were well attended and all report a good time. They had numerous pieces which were furnished by a jolly party from Serauton, who was staying at Mr. Killum's. After the fireworks the crowd moved toward the bouiio whore thoy woro enter- tained by dancing, singing, etc., after which freeioe cream was serv ed to all present. SANUYSTON. Very few from this pluep attended the races nt Millard owing to tin exorbitant price of admission. Tin malingers evidently thought the rural rustics were wild to see a horse race. So far the rural delivery In Monta gue has given great satisfaction nnd every one is highly pli-is.-d. No running to the post ollh-e for the mail now. It is doubtful ir Sandy ston will apply lor rural delivery and yet it is a blessing to every one re ceiving mail. The 1th of .July passed off as quiet ly as nny other day and bad it not been for Mr. and Mrs. Whittler, who arestopping with Landlord Montrose, we would have had no display of fireworks. The marriage, of Mr. Caiii.irt of Murristown, N. .1., to Miss Norma Stoll, of Bevans oi-eured oil Weilii'-s-day, the 2d Inst., nt the home of the bride. People are nfraid of meeting auto mobiles, and well they may lor most of the drivers of those machines do not care whether your horse runs away or not. One passed through here on Saturday nnd some teams gave their drivers all they could do to control them. A bear passed tli rough near the res idence of Edward Shupe one day last week nnd a couple of hunters started in pursuit but Mr. Bear got safely away. No residents are aware thai New Jersey has a hunter's license law now in effect and yet n day or two ago, I saw a eouple of Port Jer vls hunters accompanied by a local hunter in pursuit of woodcock with dogs and gun. If that law is a good one why not owners of land see that it is enforced. Montague is getting her roads in fine shape and I think the people of that town can assert that they possess the best roads of nny town in this valley and the thanks of the travel ing public are due to the parties who have done so much toward putting their roads In good condition, espec ially the river road. Accidents happening on the Fourth came to the surface as usual. ' One man shot with powder at Ilainesville but not seriously hurt and another got a whack over the bend with a club. No arrests. Cards are out announcing the mar riage of Mrs. Bertha Stoll of Sandy- ston to Lewis Schooley of Newton at the home of the bride on the Kith inst. Miss Stoll is one of our most efficient teachers and the groom Is a valued employee of the shoe factory at Newton. The Frankford authorities are hauling gravel and covering the road leading through Culver's Gap In fine shape. From being of the worst piece of road it will be one of the best when finished.
