Carmel Enjoyed working in woodcraft Robert G. Allardyce Sr., of Chase Manor, Shavertown, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2006 in Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre. Born on August 4, 1931, in Pitt- ston, he was a son of the late James William and Mary Allar- dyce. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School, Class of 1949. Mr. Allardyce had been em- ployed in the insurance industry until his retirement. Mr. Allardyce was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, 4th Degree Knights of Colum- bus, and a lifelong member of the Pennsylvanians for Human Life. He served his community for several years as a member of the Lake-Lehman School Board. His love for singing was ex- pressed through his past mem- berships in Gate of Heaven choir and the Scranton Choral Society. He was an avid fly fisherman and a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. One of the happiest days of his later years came when the Sox brought home the coveted World Series trophy in 2004. Mr. Allardyce was preceded in death by his brother James Allar- dyce. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Martha Bog- don; son Robert and his wife Pam, Dallas; daughters Lisa Mack and her husband Tom, Wyoming; Amy Allardyce, Sha- vertown; brother John Allar- dyce, Kokomo, Indiana; sister Maggie Allardyce, Pittsburgh; grandchildren Erin and Kristen Allardyce; Sarah Mack; several nieces and nephews. Scruitsky Sr., of Shavertown, Jackson Town- ship, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Cen- ter, Plains Township. Born in Pringle, he was the son of the late Stanley and Catherine (Bandish) Scruit- sky. He was a graduate of Pringle High School, attended the Wilkes-Barre Business College and earned an associates de- gree from King’s College. Mr. Scruitsky had served in the United States Coast Guard. He had been employed for 30 years as the office manager of Friedman's Express and later by Master Garment Company. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and the Nittany Lion Club. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Mildred Katchmar; sons Robert Jr., Ma- ryland; William and his wife Renee, Colorado; Gary and his wife Jennifer, North Carolina; sister Mary Ann Pointon, Ed- wardsville; grandchildren Re- becca, Joshua, Autumn and Aa- ron. Goodrich, 80, of Harris Street, Dallas, passed away Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006 in Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes- Barre. | Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Abra- ham Charles and Susan Hunt Steidinger. | She was employed at various dress factories in the garment industry. | Mrs. Goodrich was a mem- ber of the First Baptist Church of Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Raymond Steidinger. Surviv- ing are sons Carl, Dallas; Ge- orge, Wilkes-Barre; Charles, Beaumont; Edward, Tunkhan- nock; Robert and his daughters Christine and Courtney, Dal- las; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. S. Philip R. Templin, 86, of 360 Ravine St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center. Mr. Templin was born in Sha- mokin on Feb. 18, 1920, a son of the late Richard “JW” and Edith E. (Elliot) Templin. In 1987 he married Betty Walton, who sur- vives. He previously was married to Barbara K. Templin. Philip was a retired chemist for Gulf Oil. He was a graduate of Dallas High School in Dallas. where he cap- tained the high school football and basketball teams. He gradu- ated from Susquehanna Universi- ty in 1942 with a BA degree in chemistry. During this time he served as captain of the universi- ty football and basketball teams and was a member of the track team. He was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universi- ty. Philip completed graduate courses at West Virginia Universi- ty and later earned a master’s de- gree in physical and organic chemistry in 1954 from the Uni- versity of Pittsburgh. During World War II, while employed at Dupont, he was assigned to the Manhattan Project that produced the Atomic Bomb. He worked for nearly 30 years at Gulf Research and Develop- ment Co., retiring in December 1982. He was an excellent golfer and was a member of North Palm Beach Country Club and the Oak- mont Country Club, where he was a 50-year member. He was a former member of the Lions Club Jr. Chamber of Commerce and served a 6-year term as a school board director in Oakmont. Survivors include his wife, Be- tty, of Meadville; two sons, John Templin and his wife, Mary, of Long Beach, Calif.; David Tem- plin and his wife, Deb, of New York, N.Y.; three stepchildren, Jennifer Derugen of Carlton, Mi- chele Toomey of Cochranton, William Derugen of Reno, Nev.; four step-grandchildren, Sophie and Chance Toomey, Autumn and Nate Wilcox; two sisters, Evelyn Eck of Shavertown and Mary Reese of Dallas; two broth- ers, Thomas Templin of Dallas and Ralph Templin of Lakewood, Colo.; numerous nieces and ne- phews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard, William and Fred Templin, and a sister, Jean Maxwell. Veterans Administration Hospital . | He was born in Luzerne Coun- ty on Dec. 13, 1926, and was a son of the late Edward and Eva (Sick- ler) Wilkinson. Mr. Wilkinson served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years in World War II, Korean Conflict and Viet- nam. | He belonged to VFW Post 283, Kingston, and American Legion Post 672, Dallas. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and belonged to the Tombstone Sportsmen Club of Lovelton. His brother, Ralph Wilkinson, preceded him in death. Carmel Church, Lake Silkworth, and the Ameri- can Legion Post, Shickshinny. He was employed for 37 years at Motor Twins in auto sales. He served in the U.S. Navy.
