Budin of Trucksville has been named a finalist in the 2008 National Merit Scholarship competition. Leah is the daughter of Dr. Robert Budin and Dr. Lowe. A senior at Wyoming Semi- nary, she now has the opportu- nity to continue in the competi- tion for about 8,000 Merit Scholarship Awards, worth $30 million, that will be offered this spring. More than 1.3 million stu- dents in over 20,000 U.S. high schools entered the 2003 Merit Program when they were juniors by taking the 2001 Preliminary SAT /National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, which served as an initial screen of program en- trants. About 8,000 of the na- tion's high school seniors were named Finalists on a state rep- resentational basis.
