The lead and momentum changed several times with each team going on a 8-0 run, but Eye Care’s Rebekah Clay scored 8 points in the final quarter to seal the win, and finished with 14 points total. Megan Savage scored 12 points and Cassie Snider had 10 points for the winners. Melissa Evans and Hillary Adams each scored a basket. Dombroski's Cory Patton had 3 three pointers and finished with a game high 19 points. Nikki Pisacano had five points and Samantha Decker scored 4. Christina Dombroski and Krystal Der- hammer each added a basket. Semi-finals Michael Dombroski Construction 37, Burger King 35 It was a nail-biter in the first semi-fi- nal game of the night. The lead changed back and forth and was tied at the half, but Dombroski held out for the victory. Cory Patton, Samantha Decker and Nikki Pisacano were high scorers for the winners with 13, 12 and 8 points respectively. Kelly Williams and Krystal Derhammer each had 2 points. Katy Whalen led all scorers with 16 points for Burger King, six of which were in the fourth quarter to keep her » @ ion alive. Jessica English had a great offensive game scoring 8 points which included two 3 pointers. Kristen Evans also scored 2 treys for six points for the night. Jackie Opel added two points and played great defense for her team. The Lake-Lehman Black Knights confounded the ex- perts and won the District 2, Class AA championship in two days of wrestling at Coughlin High School. Lehman edged favored Meyers 174-166.5, a victory that was sealed when Matt Carey took a 3-2 decision from Joe Ostrowski of Meyers, who had beaten Carey in their three previoius bouts. Dallas wrestlers place Joe Lambert, Ollerick Eby, Buddy Kocher, Josh and Morgan Anderson, all from Dallas, participated in the Lackawanna Trail Wrestling Tourna- ment Feb. 25. Josh Anderson finished fourth at 138. Buddy Kocher finished second at 185; and Morgan Anderson finished first at’ 130. Dallas kept it close against Nanticoke in the first-half, playing stifling defense to trail 17-16 going into the locker room. The second half was another story, though, as the Trojans erupted for 16 points in the third quarter and 14 in the last to take a 47-31 win. John Houssock (103 pounds) and Matt Carey (heavyweight) will continue their sea- sons. Houssock easily handled a GAR wrestler in the title bout in the light- weight division as he won 12-1. Carey had a great challenge in defeating the Meyers heavyweight 3-2. Aaron Kubasik and B.J. Lewis made the championship bout in their brackets but were pinned. Perry Coolbaugh of Dallas made the final of the 140 brack- et in the AAA meet but fell to a wrestler from Valley West 9-5. GIRLS SWIMMING Arthur, Cooper going to states Jen Arthur will be joining Erin Coop- er representing Dallas at states as she won the 50-yard freestyle and took sec- ond in the 100-yd freestyle in the dis- trict meet on Saturday. Arthur's time of 24.44 seconds in the 50 could not be topped. Only Liz Byron of Bishop Hoban was able to beat Arthur's time in the 100. Cooper qualified for states the previous weekend by taking the diving competition in comfortable fash- ion. GIRLS BASKETBALL Valley View 60, Lake- Lehman 45 Lake-Lehman was eliminated in the playoffs by Valley View. No substitutes for Lake-Lehman entered the game, and so the starters each gave it her all by playing the entire four periods. Kari Maskalis led the team with 15 points. Danielle Kern was next with nine points, followed by Kieran Lucarino’s eight points. Gina Coombs and Lisa Wasser combined for 13 points, with Coombs netting seven of those. Maskalis had the only Knights three- point bucket. After Valley View took the first half by 11, the Knights rallied to cut the deficit to seven heading into the final quarter but could not get any closer. BOYS BASKETBALL Nanticoke Area 47, Dallas 31 Nanticoke Area defeated Dallas by 16 points to win the overall league title. John Simonitis turned out to be the only Mountaineer to score in double digits despite a dismal performance at the free throw line. He ended 1-6 from the charity stripe. Chuck Suppon was defended well from the floor and scored below his average as he finished with eight points. Dan Fetko made two three-pointers and finished with six points.
