2 i ONCAMPUS 12 The Dallas Post ; Dallas, PA Wednesday, September 20, 1995 Simpsons’ illustrator at Misericordia David Silverman, one of five ~ animation directors behind the ® SRW popular television series The Simpsons, will speak at College Misericordia on Monday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. The presentation will take place in Walsh Auditorium and is free and open to the public. David Silverman directs one of five teams of animators that bring the Simpson family to life each week. The Emmy Award-winning program requires the work of over .© a 100 animators to produce be- tween 14,000 and 23,000 draw- . ings, a process that takes six -~ months. In his presentation Silverman *. provides abehind-the-scenes look +. at the creativity and technology +. needed to produce animated films, -~ aswellas an insider's view of Bart Simpson and his famous family. In addition to his lecture, he brings along drawing materials and out- takes from the program. Silverman studied animation "and filmmaking at UCLA and did ~~ freelance cartoon illustration on ~~ the side. His work there caught the attention of the creator and producers of The Simpsons. the country. Health care workers and stu- dents entering health professions and related areas are invited to come and talk with the recruiters about job opportunities. Wilkes to host craft show Oct. 8 Wilkes Unyiersity CARES will be holding its annual craft show on October 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Arnaud C. Marts Sports and Conference Center, 274 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Approximately 60 vendors will be on hand selling everything from craft items to antiques & lithographs. The proceeds from the rental of tables to vendors will go to the Wilkes University CARES student and faculty organization. The organization is committed to the health education in the community, such as AIDS Awareness Week. Free campus parking will be available, and refreshments will be served. RYAN LOPEZ Ryan Lopez earns Remington scholarship Ryan Lopez, a 1995 graduate of Dallas High School, was named a recipient of the F. William Reming- ton Scholarship sponsored by the Commission on Economic Oppor- tunity. She was recently honored at the commission's annual awards dinner. She plans to attend Wilkes University.
