Born in Sweet Valley, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur R. and Lydia Jane Williams Shaw. She married Charles H. Brown on March 4, 1914. He died Nov. 4, 1970. She attended Ross Township schools and was employed as a seamstress for 11 years with Chappel and Son Department Store, Syracuse, NY, where she retired in 1959. She also was a lifelong member of Sweet Valley Church of Christ. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Clair Hayden Brown, and brother, Raymond Shaw.
