Residents of Kingston Township are reminded that closed container burning is permitted in the Township for the disposal of paper only, no other household trash is to be burned. The con- tainer must be covered with some type of screening to contain the debris and must be attended at all times. Container burning is per- mitted from dawn to dusk daily, with the exception of Sunday when no burning is allowed. New officers installed Township residents are also reminded that the open burning of wood, tree branches, tree leaves, paper or yard trimmings requires a Township Burning Permit. Only one open fire is allowed with each permit. The fire must be controlled at all times and adequate precau- tionary measures must be taken by the property owner. Open burn- ing is permitted from dawn to dusk daily, with the exception of Sun- day. Residents are reminded that a Township ordinance expressly prohibits the burning of leaves, branches, and lawn clippings in gutters along the Township road- ways. Burning in the asphalt gut- ters weakens the pavement struc- ture and causes the gutters to deteriorate rapidly. Open burning permits may be obtained at the Kingston Town- ship Municipal Building, 11 Carverton Road, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Dallas Fire and Ambulance association recently held its annual dinner dance and installation of officers, at The Barn at Newberry Estates. officers installed are: first row, from left, Brett Slcoum, assistant fire chief; Lynn Sheehan Sr., secre- tary; Nancy Ruggere, ambulance chief; Timothy Carroll, vice president; Ted Wright, fire chief. According to direc- tor Susan Davis, the Festival is an event uniquely designed for chil- dren to develop an awareness of other cultures (their similarities and differences) and to gain an ap- preciation of live theatre. “It is not just for school groups,” states Davis. “We encourage parents and grandparents to ‘share a day of magic’ with their children. Many principals have stated this is an excused absence as is the circus or the Bloomsburg Fair.” The Festival is structured so individuals can attend an ac- claimed performance of an inter- national troupe for one hour then spend as much time as they desire at Kirby Park and the Armory. According to Davis “The $3.50 admission purchases far more than just the excitement of the theatre. We have storytellers, mimes, musicians, a backyard circus, and jugglers for the children to see and participate with. Plus Jody Berg, our Playworks coordinator has spent months designing fascinat- ing crafts for the children to make and take home that relate to the theatre performances. The children can see the Irish Mummers in St. Stephen's then make a headdress at Playworks that will allow them to repeat their experience over and over at home.” The International companies and their schedules are: 1) The Naa Kahadi Theatre of Alaska presenting a trilogy of Tlingit In- dian legends at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Arts Wednesday May 16, 10 a.m. and 12:30; Thursday, May 17, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. A special evening perform- ance will be held Wednesday May 16 at 6 p.m. 2) The Armagh Rhymers - a highly skilled group of mimes, ballad singers and dancers in the tradition of Irish Mummers per- forming at St. Stephen’s, Wednes- day, May 16, 9:30 and 1:30; Thurs- day, 10:30, 12:30; Friday, 9:30 and 12 noon. 3) The Moscow Puppeteers from Russia will paint a canvas of magic as they demonstate the “Magic Pipe” at the Jewish Community Center Wednesday, 12:30; Thursday, 10 a.m. and 12:30; Friday. 9:30 and 12 noon. 4) Les Transporteurs de Reves is an exhilarating French Candian circus.
